P.R. meeting of W.i.
The Public Relations meeting of the
Holyrood Women's Institution was held
last Thursday, October 1. The president,
Mrs. Harold Smith welcomed all in atten-
dance and thanked the ladies who canvass-
ed for the Athritis Society.
The Ode and Mary Stewart Collect open-
ed the meeting. Mrs. Douglas McEwan
read the minutes and financial statements.
Mrs Frank Maulden reported on the South
Bruce District W.I. luncheon in Teeswater
which was held to celebrate the 90th birth-
day of the W.I. in Ontario. This rerporter
was sorry ommitting the names of Lor-
raine MacPherson and Grace
Eckenswilber, both faithful W.I.
members, when reporting the carload
from our village who went to Teeswater.
Plans were made for the Area Conven-
tion at Durham and the County rally at
Belmore. The November meeting will be a
family night beginning with a pot -luck sup-
per. Committee Two will be in charge of
the November 11 Rememberance Day Ser-
vice at the hall. The pre -Christmas bazaar
and tea will be held at the hall November
28.
Miss Edna Boyle extended a welcome to
our guest speaker for the evening, Miss
Ruth Thompson of Lucknow gave a lovely
slide presentation of her trip to New-
foundland and St. Pierre. She delighted
everyone in sharing her trip with us. Mrs.
Alex Percy, on behalf of the W.I., express-
ed her thanks and presented Mrs. Thomp-
son with a special gift.
Mrs. Lorraine MacPherson favored us
with a piano solo and Mrs. Maulden gave a
humourous reading. The roll call was
'your baby picture' and this made for a lot
of changes as well as much fun. O'Canada
and the grace were sung before the
hostess; Mrs. Lorne Eadie served
refreshments.
