Colour Your World Paint Specials
Fun and hard work
By Chris Conley and Brad Rhody .,
Kindergarten
We are sure working hard in
Kindergarten. We are learning to share
and cooperate with our friends. We are
learning to use the computer. We also
learned the color and the word 'red' and
are getting very good at making circles.
Wednesday was an exciting day for us
because we went on a trip to the Wawanosh
Nature Park. What a nice place to go! We
saw colored leaves and many kinds of
toadstools. We heard birds and crikets and
could smell the fall air.
We are happy to have a new girl in our
class, Jenelle Morrison. She is finding
Kindergarten and busy but fun place to be.
Grades One and Two
Grade One has had a busy beginning. We
are making a book about 'Me', learning
our color words and on Wednesday we all
went ' on a rfature trip to West Wawanosh.
We had a good time and some many in-
teresting things through magnifying
glasses. We read our walk books to Mrs.
Black's class.
We'd like to say hello. to Chris Young,
Michael Wynham, Yvonne Salesburg and
Jim Morrison who are our new Grade One
friends.
The Grades One and Two classes en-
joyed their trip to the Maitside Orchard in
Brussels. It was a lot of fun picking our
own apples. This week, we are doing ac-
tivities that make us exercise our senses
and we find tasting the most fun.
A special thnaks to Mrs. Mali for helping
the children create our two scarecrows for
the Fall Fair.
Grade Two and Three
This class ' has been busy planting
flowers in big jars for their window ledge.
We sure hope they grow!
Everyone is excited about going to the
Fall Fair this weekend. We all hope to win
a prize.
Grades Three and Four
In spelling we have. been doing the days
of the week andeveryone is doing great. In
math we have been practising subtraction
and we had a weekly challenge which Lyn-
da Lyons won.
In reading we are making `I Was So
Mad' books.
LCPS
Grades Four and Five
This week, Grade Four and Five learned
about rounding off in math. In art we
pretended we were kidnapped and wrote to
our parents.
This year, • we have countries for our
house league teams. The class has made
signs with the countries of the Olympics on
them for our parade float and we hope .to
see you at the Fall Fair Parade.
Grade Five and Six
Mrs. Burkhart's class experienced mix-
ing paint with the primary colors in such a
way that they produced the secondary col-
ors. This took place in the art room but the
results are on diplay in both Mr. McKeon's
room and Mrs. Burkhart's room.
Grade Seven
Again this year, Mr. McKeon has
organized a trip to the Festival Theatre in
Stratford. The play we are going to see is
'Much Ado About Nothing'. The Grade
Sevens are now settled in and are beginn-
ing to get really involved in their studies.
They are beginning a major project in
history concerning our Native people.
Grade Eight
This week in Grade Eight has been
eventful. We started a unit on children's
literature and will be dealing with the at-
traction of books, editing and publishing in
the next few weeks.
We are all involved in practices for
cross-country and soccer. This week has
been a hard working week. Everyone is
training by running, laps after recess. In
soccer we are starting to form the school
teams.
Mr. Pike's Comments
We have gained another teacher at
L.C.P.S. Early during the week of the 21st
we will form new classes and shift some of
the 'students . to form a Grade Four and
Five class. Our house league, honouring
the 1988 Olympics, will start this week and
we have a number of great ideas in place.
The details of this venture will be featured
in future articles here in the Sentinel.
