Anglican Church Women dine at Knotty Pine
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Guest visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schuler at Kincar-
dine on the occasion of their 50th Wedding
Anniversary.
Tim Shaw of Stayner visited with Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Burt and Terry.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Guest and Christine of
St. Clemens called on relatives here on
Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Miller of Min-
nedosa, Manitoba visited here with Mr.
and Mrs. Russell Bushnell ( the two ladies
are sisters). The Miller's went to Elmira
and also visited 100 Huntley St., Toronto
then flew to Prince Edward Island. They
came back and visited other relatives.
while in Ontario.
Mrs. Vivian Parkinson returned to Lon-
don on Tuesday after holidaying with
Pastor and Mrs. M. Christensen.
On Friday the Anglican Church Women
from here gathered at the Knotty Pine
Restaurant, Kincardine for dinner. All en-
joyed the fellowship and Rev. Merelyn Let-
son said the blessing and all did justice to a
delicious .meal. Two special guests who
were former members, Mrs. Gertrude
Walsh who awhile ago celebrated her 90th
birthday and Mrs. Bert Nicholson, who
were faithful members at Kinlough
through the years and still continue to give
their support here were the guests and we
miss them since both Bertie and the
Nicholsons have moved to Kincardine. At
the conclusion of the dinner, Eva invited
everyone to their new home for the
meeting. We all enjoyed the tour of Bert
and Eva's new home and we wish them
and their family especially Evelyn who is
recovering from major surgery, God's
richest blessing in the days ahead, and
also to Gertie and our fondest wishes to
Anges Hodgins who is flying to South Bur-
naby, B.C. to visit with the Teixiera
families. We know Doug and Irema the
best as their family have grown up and are
married and Agnes has great grand-
children. May Boyle had been asked to do
a "reflection" on 40 year's back when Bert
and Eva and their three oldest children
came to be Kinlough residents. Bert was
born and grew up in our village. It was a
pleasure for this correspondent having
such deep roots in Kinlough, ending with- a
poem God's goodness. Cards were signed
for different ones. Miss Edna Boyle gave a

the Church for Edna and May. Mrs.
Harvey Cooper announced the Deanery
meeting at Brussels on October 6th, and
that too is the Kinlough and District Bible
Society meeting at Kinlough at 8 p.m. The
invitation to Kingarf's Fall Thank Offering
meeting on Tuesday October 15th was ac-
cepted. The ACW didn't hold the regular
September meeting when it was planned
for a special day. We enjoyed delicious
punch served by Eva before it came to go-
ing home time. October 8th will be the bale
packing at the Church at 1 pm and election
of officers.
Visitors with Mr. Arthur Haldenby were
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bennett of Toronto,
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Fry of Harriston.
Mr. Fred Lanting of Kincardine, Miss
Connie Laneting and Mr. and Mrs. Chris
Chatten and children of Huron and Miss
Marjorie Lanting of our village all went to
Winnipeg and were guests at the Lanting-
Beotelho wedding. Mr. Lanting (Sr.) was
unable to make the trip owing to ill health.
All returned home here and on Friday
evening Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Lanting
were honoured at a wedding dinner and
reception at the Kinlough Pentecostal
Church basement when relatives and
friends attended who weren't with the
family at the wedding in Winnipeg. The
happy couple were delighted with the kind-
ness and gifts received and having a visit
with Syd's father. The newlyweds had to
leave early Saturday morning for Win-
nipeg. Neighbours and friends extend their
very best wishes for years of happiness.
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Boyle visited on
Saturday evening with Mrs. Frank
Maulden and on Sunday with Edna and
May Boyle.
Mrs. Fred Page returned home from
Toronto Hospital after major surgery. We
send get well wishes Joan.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Kaufman and
Kimberley returned on Tuesday to Sask.
after visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs.
Tom McDonald and other relatives here.
Hope they had a safe trip home.
Mrs. Frank Maulden phoned Mrs. Jack
Webster at Edmonton on Friday night as
there hadn't been recent word since Jack's
accident and being hospitalized at Edmon-
ton. Jack is progressing favourably and all
his old friends at Kinlough send get well
wishes Jack.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Guest of here accom-
panied Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Johnston of
London to Chatham on Saturday
September 12th to the Johnston -McIntyre
wedding at Victoria United Church. Vic-
tor is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnston ( nee
Jean Guest). We extend congratulations.
Mrs. Agnes Hodgins was to Preston on
Wednesday attending the funeral of her
brother William McCue. We extend our
sympathy.
Mrs. Frank Maulden, Mrs. Hugh Lane of
here and Mrs. Jean Hughes of Lucknow
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Eadie at
Wingham.
Miss Pearl Scott of London, Mrs. Kae
Black and her son of Woodstock visited
with Miss Winnifred Percy.
Pastor and Mrs. M. Christensen were to
Montreal to a special Anniversary Church
service and also visited with Mrs.
Christensen (Sr.) and with Mr. and Mrs.
Blair Christensen.
On Thursday evening members of the
Presbyterian Congregation here attended
the induction of their new minister Rev.
William W.H. Baird B.A. M Div. He began
his Christian ministery here on Sunday.
The family and consumers affairs
meeting of the Holyrood Womens Institute
was held at the Holyrood hall on Thursday
evening with Edva . and May Boyle
hostesses. The president Mrs. Harold
Smith opened the meeting with the Ode
and the Mary Stewart Collect, and extend-
ed a welcome to all present.The director
Mrs. William MacPherson then introduced
the guest speaker Mrs. Paula Blagrave
who spoke on Diabetes. Mrs. Blagrave has
been director of nutrition and food services
at the Wingham and District Hospital for
10 years and has been involved with the
Diabetes Education program for 9 years
and is a member of the Canadian Diabetes
Association.
Celebrating an anniversary
On Friday evening, August 28, the fami-
ly of Graham and Bessie McNee provided
a lovely dinner at their home to celebrate
their 50th anniversary. As well as all their
family, Mary Bere of Goderich was also a
guest.
On Sunday past, Mrs. Mary Funk and
Mrs. Priscilla Hewitt of Exeter visited the
McNees. Sunday dinner guests were Alan
and Sandra McNee, Edward, Paul and
Alanna of London.
Terry Schultz of Kippen visited for a few
days with his cousin Brad Park and the
Park family.
Mrs. Joanne Mahar, daughter Cathy and
son Mike of Burke, Virginia visited for a
couple of days with. Joanne's mother, Lee
Shetler.
Lynn Chisholm, R. 6 Goderich, hosted a
bridal shower on Sunday past for Anne
Narejko of Clinton, bride elect of Colin
Chisholm.
The program was conducted by Virginia
Caesar, Dungannon and Leola Hartung of
R. 1 Gowanstown, both sisters of Colin.
Anne thanked family and friends for the
lovely gifts and a smorgasbord lunch was'
enjoyed.
Todd Park of Peterborough was home
for the weekend with his parents Bill and
Marie and other family members. Bill and
Marie motored to Peterborough to return
him home on Monday.
Kingsbridge Play School will hold an
ogranizational meeting on Thursday,
September 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the St.
Joseph's School. All parents who are in-
terested in sending pre-schoolers to play
school are urged to attend.
Visiting, with Jim and Margaret Err-
ington recently was her sister Mary Ann
and husband Sheldon Martin from Strat-
ford. The foursome visited cousins in
Michigan over the holiday weekend.
Bob and Brenda Woods, Robbie, Shawn
and Angie visited in London on the
weekend with Bob's mother, Jean.
The last two week's winners at the
euchre parties at the Seniors Centre were
Helen Richardson -high lady, Adeline
Allan -low lady, Stanely Dennis -high man,
Bob Markam-low man. Also, John
Andrews -high man, Art Stewart -low man,
Grace Finnigan -high lady, Lee Shetler-low
lady.
Bill and Marie Park and Brad were in
Peterborough over the weekend visiting
with son Todd' and took in some of the city
sights.
On tour
The Cultural Activities Committee was
in charge of the September meeting of the
'Dungannon Women's Institute and a tour
of Martin Straughan's car and buggy'
restorations was arranged by Louis Lee.
Members saw a variey of cutters, bug-
'gies and machinery, as well as license
plates, harness, lamps, shingle cutters, a
dog churns and a small childs' "car," from(
Champion Road Machinery. Straughan
provided members with an explaination of
how he acquired the various items..
After Straughn. was thanked and
presented with a gift, the meeting was
moved to Ruth Freeland's home in
Goderich.
President Elmira opned the meeting
with the poem "Teachin Public School".
The roll call was answered by "Something
Dear to You From a Loved One of
Yesteryear". There were some very in-
teresting items named, such as pictures,
crafts and cherished memories of our
Grandparents.
Members were reminded of the Area
Convention at St. Marys, Oct. 15 and 16.
Local delegates will be Joan Dougherty
and Alma Black and the institute will have
an article for the sale table.
The fall rally will be at Londesborough
on Oct. 5 and delegates will be Roberta
Linskill and Beverley Fielder.
Some members will be attending
Wingham WI's 85th birthday.
