Convention in Durham

The staff of the Lucknow Sentinel is
pleased to announce the appointment of a
new correspondent for ' the Whitechurch
area.
Jean Ross of RR5 Lucknow has risen to
the task of reporting the social and com-
munity news of Whitechurch and her first
report is included in this week's paper.
We are most happy to have Jean submit-
ting reports from the community and look
forward to a long relationship with her.
If you have any news of interest to
friends and relatives in the reading area of
the Lucknow Sentinel, and live in the
Whitechurch community, feel free to con-

The Canadian Industries meeting of the
Whitechurch Women's Institute was held
last Wednesday evening in the Community
Hall with Agnes Farrier as convenor.
President Helen Currie welcomed
everyone and recited a poem on `Autumn'..
The ladies have decided to be reporters of
the Whitechurch News for the Wingham
Advance Times and the Lucknow Sentinel.
An invitation was recieved to attend the
Pot Luck Luncheon in Teeswater on

September 21 entertaining ladies visiting
from P.E.I..
The Grey -Bruce Area Women's In-
sititute Annual Convention will be held Oc-
tober 5 in Durham. Mrs. Russel McGuire
will act as delegate.
The speaker at the meeting was hor-
ticulurist Ms. Shelley Paulocik who told
those in attendance about growing and
marketing raspberries and strawberries
and on grafting and the care of fruit trees.
A clarinet instrumental was given by
Hugh Sinnamon and Mary McIntosh.
`Turkey Terminology' was a contest run
with Betty Armstrong, Brenda Day and
Shelley Paulocik as winners.
Lunch and social time followed with the
lunch committee of Miss Merle Wilson,
Mrs. Jean Ross and Mrs. Dave Gibb doing
another excellent job.
In other news from the community this
week, Mr. and Mrs. ;lack Whytock from,
Glascow, Scotland arrived home on Friday
to spend a few days with his parents Mr.
and Mrs. Carem Whytock.
