Four hundred and twenty well wishers from the area OF Wingham, London, Sarnia, Goderich, Walkerton, Hensall and Unionville came to congratulate the cou- ple. The Walls said the party couldn't have been better. Are you ready for hockey? The Lucknow Minor Hockey Committee held its first meeting on Tuesday, September 8. The committee was formed at the end of the hockey season this past -- year by a vote of the parentsof`boys registered to play hockey in Lucknow, and includes the following members: George Adams, George Gibson (chair), Evans Helm (recorder), David McKinnon, Larry McPherson, Gerald Murray, Jim Murray, Bruce Skillen and Doug Stevenson. The committee's general mandate is to promote minor hockey. To that end, the committee members solicit your , support and your input. If you have a concern or a suggestion for improving the opportunities presented to our young hockey players, please contact a committee member. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 6. . - We ask all hockey players to note the registration dates for minor hockey and please .register early. The number of teams, their coaches and managers cannot be determined until completed registra- tions give the number of players in each age group. Anyone interested in assisting with the operation of Lucknow Minor Hockey as a referee, coach, manager or trainer, please contact a committee member or recrea- tion director Bill Hunter. The referees and coaching clinics are being held this month and next, so prompt action is required. Registration forms available 1987 Grain Stabilization The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food has an Income Stabilization Plan for corn, soybeans, white beans, winter wheat, barley, oats and canola. This pro- gram provides a support price of 95% of the last five year average market price, plus adjustments for changes in cash costs. The maximum Ontario support pay- ment will be the difference between 95% and 90% of the five year average market price. Registration forms are now available for the 1987 crop sales year. If you have enroll- ed White Beans in the Tripartite Stabiliza- tion plan, then you cannot register White Beans in the Ontario Stabilization Plan. Growers who were previously eligible for enrollment in the first or second years and wish to enroll in the third year will in- cur a penalty. Any payments declared by the Commission will apply to only 80% of the otherwise eligible production. New growers can enroll without penalty. Each grower must register his/her crop and pay a registration fee. The Govern- ment of Ontario will pay into the program $2.00 for every, dollar paid by producers. The combined maximun tonnage eligible per grower is 5,000 tonnes. The Stablization Commission will be mailing forms to growers previously enrolled in the program. Growers who do not receive a form by September 16th, 1987 should contact the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food at 881-3301 or 1-800-265-3023. FARM REPORT 1987-88 Bruce County Dairy Princess To Be Crowned The crowning of the 1988 Bruce County Dairy Princess will take place on Satur- day, September 19th, 1987 at the Teeswater Community Centre. This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the Bruce County Competition. A reunion has been planned for former Dairy Princesses and Commit- tee men in order to celebrate this special occasion. Tickets are available from - The Bruce County Milk Committee, Walkerton OMAF and at the door. Calf Show The Ripley -Huron Fall Fair invites all 4-H members in Bruce, Grey, Huron and Perth to its Invitational Calf Show at 1:00 p.m. on September 26th. An entry fee of $2.00 lets you enter your 4-H project - dairy or beef calf with the usual categories for the animal and for showmanship. Prize money: $25.00; $20.00; $15.00; $10.00; and $5.00 to remain- ing entries. All calves must be registered by 11:00 A.M. Fair Day and must be the 4-H member's own project calf.
