Lucknow Squirts advance to W.O.A.A. Finals
The Lucknow Squirts Fastball Club have
advanced to the W.O.A.A. finals after
defeating the Wellesley Squirts to capture
their division title.
The local Squirts moved to the final
rounds of play by taking three straight
games from the Wellesley team. On
September 4, Clint . Murray pitched for
Lucknow in a 9-5 decision. Murray was
solid on the mound allowing eight hits, five
walks and striking out seven batters.
Adrian Helm had a great game with two
hits and by making some super catches in
left field. Chad Stanley and Steve Porter
also had two hits apeice in the contest
while Chad Hiller, Chris MacDonald, Clint
Murray and Keith Todd responded with
one hit each.
In the second game of the series, played
on September 6, Lucknow took two extra
innings to down their competition 7-6. The
score was tied at two until the seventh inn-
ing when Lucknow scored four runs but
Wellesley responded with four in the bot-
tom of the inning to force the overtime
play.
In the game, Clint Murray pitched 834 in-
nings allowing seven hits, three walks and
striking out seven. Keith Todd stepped in
to pitch the remaining one-third and allow-
ed two hits --and a walk. In the contest,
Keith came up with a home -run and a big
double. Chris MacDonald also had a homer
and added a single while Joel Sutton,
Adrian Helm, Steve Porter and Clint Mur-
ray had one hit each.
In the final game of the series, the local
Squirts advanced to the W.O.A.A. Finals
by defeating Wellesley 7-5. Clint Muuary
started the game on the mound for
Lucknow and after 2 innings allowed three
hits and five walks while stiking out one.
Keith Todd came in to pitch the remainder
of the game -and allowed three hits and five
walks while leaving five batters at the
plate on strike outs. Todd didn't allow a
run in the game.
The boys took advantage of their oppor-
tunities in the game as they left only two
runners on base while the Wellesley team
stranded eight runners. Clint Murray,
Steve Porter, Chris MacDonald, Adrian
Helm and Joel Sutton each had one hit in
the contest. Chad Hiller scored two runs.
The Lucknow Squirts have a very strong
team lead by good pitching and backed by
tough hitters at the plate. Best of luck to
the team in the upcoming finals which will
see the boys play a best three -of -five
series.
