Alexander Kennedy Purves
Alexander Kennedy Purves, of RR2
Lucknow, passed away on August 30, 1987
at the Wingham and District Hospital.
He was born to Mr. and Mrs. James
Purves on April 20, 1900 in West
Wawanosh, Huron County. In the year
1940, Alexander joined the army and train-
_ ed in London, Ontario. He left for overseas
('with the. First Division, R.C.E.M.E. in
December of that year and served in
workshops at Camp Borden, England until
after V.E. Day and returned to Canada in
August of 1945. He worked as a blacksmith
in Lucknow, Detroit and St. Helens until
his retirement in 1965.
In September 1944, he married Kitty
Moore at Douglas on the Isle of Man in the
British Isles. Mr. Purves was a member of
the local Presbyterian Church.
Alexander Purves is survived by his
brother Leslie Purves of Lucknow, his
sisters Mrs. Lizzie Bolt, Mrs. Annie Irwin,
Margery Purves of Mitchell and Urena
Lyons of Huronview. He was predeceased
by a sister, Mary Purves and two brothers,
Kenneth Purves and Calvin Purves.
Rev. W. Henderson officiated the funeral
service from the MacKenzie and Mc-
Creath Funeral Home, Lucknow. Herb Mc-
Quillin acted as flower bearer and
honorary pallbearer. Active pallbearers
included Allan Cranston, Russell Phillips,
Fred Phillips, Ken Phillips, Lloyd Moffat
and David MacDonald.
Alexander Kennedy Purves was laid to
rest at the South Kinloss Cemetery.
Daniel Mark Vanderklippe
Daniel Mark Vanderklippe passed away
at the Victoria Hospital in London on
September 2 from complications arising
from an operation. He was ten months and
14 days old.
Daniel was born October 16, 1986 at the
Wingham Hospital to parents William and
Hilda Vanderklippe of RR5 Lucknow. He is
survived by his parents; two brothers,
Stephen and Nathan; grandfather Gerry
Vanderklippe of Lucknow; grandparents
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shippen of Aylmer
and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Daniel Mark is predeceased by his
grandmother Jenny Vanderklippe.
Funeral services were held on
September 5 at the Lucknow Christian
Reformed Church with the Rev. D. Thielke
officiating. A graveside service was con-
ducted at the South Kinloss Cemetery with
arrangements by MacKenzie and Mc-
Creath Funeral Home.

WILLIAM BARRY WHETSTONE
William Barry Whetstone, of Goderich,
died at Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital on Saturday, September 5 at the
age of 50.
Born in London on December 4, 1936, he
was the son of L.O. Whetstone and the
former Helen Brethour.
He was a sales clerk at Canadian Tire in
Goderich and a member of North Street
United Church.
Surviving besides his father, L.O. (Nip)
Whetstone of Goderich, are: his wife, the
former Marie Lyddiatt; daughter Marlene
of Vancouver, B.C.; daughter Joanne of
Willowdale, Ont. ; brother Vic and his wife
Bev Whetstone of •
Goderich; and, one grand -
chile, Lindsay.
The funeral service was conducted Mon-
day, September 7 at the McCallum and
Palla Funeral Home with Rev. Robert 0.
Ball, of North Street United Church,
officiating.
Pallbearers were Doug Cruickshank,
Gary Ross, Ron Whetstone, Rick Whetstone,
Dan Whetstone and George Sager.
Interment at Maitland Cemetery.
EDMUND DAVID JEFFREY
Mr. Edmund David (Ted) Jeffrey, of
Goderich, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don, on Sunday, August 30 at the age of 61.
Born in Stanley Township, he was the son
of the late Leon Remi Jeffrey and the
former Pauline Plante.
He was a farmer in Hay Township until
his retirement in 1977. He was a member of
St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church. •
Lovingly remembered by Madge Oesch of
Goderich and David and Linda Oesch of
Richmond Hill.
Surviving are two sisters, Blanche
Bechard of Zurich and Ulene (Mrs.
Napoleon Ducharme) of London; and, two
brothers, Lloyd of Windsor and Clemence of
Zurich.
He was predeceased by one brother
Leonard.
The funeral service was held at the Mc-
Callum
o-Callum and Palla Funeral Home on Wednes-
day, September 2 with Rev. T. McNamara
of St. Peter's church officiating.
Pallbearers were Phil Jeffrey, Ken Jef-
frey, Ray Ducharme, Bill Fiscus, Harold
Erb and Tony Maillett..
Interment in St. Boniface Cemetery,
Zurich.
