Opportunity for students
Canadian secondary school students now
have a unique opportunity to discover a
new country while continuing their educa-
tion thanks to the exchange program of In-
terculture Canada.
Interculture Canada, a leading interna-
tional exchange organization, offers
youths between 15 and 18 years of age the
chance to study in more than 30 countries
around the world. There are departures in
summer or in winter depending on the
country chosen. The program lasts 11 to 12
months.
"It's an unforgettable experience", said
one participant who is back from a year in
France. "I had a terrific time with my host
family and made a lot of new friends. I
discovered France and its culture by living
with its people. Now I also speak French
fluently".
In addition to the intercultural learning,
the exchange program of Interculture
Canada encourages the personal growth
•and development of teenagers. "My
daughter has returned home with more
self-confidence and radiant •with hap-
piness. She shows more openness, flexibili-
ty and responsibility" says the mother of a
returnee from Venezuela.
Students interested in obtaining more in-
formation about Interculture Canada pro-
grams may call toll free at these numbers:
1-800-361-1879 for 807 area code, and
1-800-361-7248 for 705, 416 and 519 area
codes, or write to 59 St -Jacques Str., Suite
700, Montreal, Que., H2Y 1K9. Final ap-
plications must be received by October
30th for winter departures and November
30th for summer departures.
Interculture Canada is a not-for-profit,
non-governmental organization. It is a
member of AFS International/Inter-
cultural Programs network with over 70
member countries, making it the world's
largest exchange organization. Inter -
culture Canada promotes world peace by
stimulating the candidate's interest in
learning about other people and
understanding cultural differences.
