On Thursday evening, the Holyrood Hall
was decorated in white and pink with wed-
ding bells and balloons and made a colour-
ful setting in the Women's Institute room
for the bridal shower held for Miss
Jeanette Duiker. Mrs Douglas McEwan
acted as chairperson and gave a reading to
begin the program. A special welcome was
extended and Charlene introduced the
bride and her mother. Each was presented
with a corsage.
Mrs. Charles Murray conducted a love
song contest while Betty Anne Murray
favored all with a piano number. A reading
on love was given by Mrs. Glen Haldenby.
Miss Edna Boyle played the wedding
march while Jeanette and her attendents,
Mrs. Wayne Murray and Lee Anne Halden-
by took their places. Mrs. Gerald Rhody
read the address of best wishes for a happy
future to the bride. Assiting with the gifts
were JoAnne and Betty Anne Murray and
Sharon Cranston.
All in attendance then sang 'For She's a
Y .M
Jolly Good Fellow' before enjoying a
delicious' lunch served by the ladies in
charge and assisted by the young people
present.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Dale
Maclnnis who were married on Saturday
last in Glencoe. Dale grew up on the Tenth
Concession and is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Dan McInnis.
Traverse Brace of London visited this
week with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs
Gerald Rhodey.
Mrs. Marretta Hodgins along with Edna
and May Boyle were recent visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gilliam and Mr. and
Mrs. Chester Emmerston.
Mrs. Frank Maulden returned , home
from Fonthill where she had been visiting.
Back from Missouri
Sincere sympathy is extended this week
to the families of . the late Livingston
Menary and the late Jim Houston. Also, we
were sorry to hear of the passing of the late
Florence McLennan who died in London
recently. To the families and friends, we
all share your loss at this time.
Donna and Garry Sutton and fam'ly
returned from a two week vacation visting
with Garry's cousin and his family in
Gravois Mills and Lake of the Ozark,
Missouri. The Suttons reported excellent
weather for the trip with only one day of
rain.
W.D. (Duffy) and Dorothy McQuillin
spent a few days visiting relatives in
Woodstock and Sarnia.

Company with Mel Jones last Tuesday
was Evelyn Smith of Chatham and. Edith
Smith of London.
Visiting with Lee Shetler this week were
her sister and .husband Lorna and Henry
Eates of Sarnia and their son Ron of
Calgary, Alberta.
Bill and Marie Park celebrated their
wedding anniversary on Saturday evening
with their family at the home of daughter
and son-in-law :Vicki and Ted Henry in
Goderich.
Congratulations to Brian and Janice
( Park) Brindley on the birth of a 7lbs, 12oz
son Trevor Brian at Goderich on August 7.
Tim and Wanada Hodges and Cory spent
a few days on Manitoulin Island with Lloyd
and Doris Hodges and other family
members. While there, Lloyd celebrated
his 65th birthday. Happy birthday Lloyd.
Jim and Margaret Errington and Roger
and Elsie Pannabeeker attended the
Dahmer reunion at the Haysville Com-
munity Centre on Sunday last.
There were 11 tables of euchre at the
Senior's Centre on Wednesday evening.
High man for the day was Nels Pearson
while the low man was Elmer Trommer..
High lady on the day was Belle Mole while
Gloria Pearson took honors as low lady.

Her niece, Mrs. Douglas Palmer brought
her home and during the week Mrs. Allan
Pope of Sudbury has been visiting with
Mrs. Maulden. •
Mrs. John Barr returned home from
Kincardine and District Hospital on
Wednesday. Her son Donald Barr was here
from Waterloo to stay with her.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bennett of Toronto
visted with their grandfather, Mr. Arthur
Haldenby, and took him back with them
for a holiday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ormond of Milton
spent the weekend with Pastor and Mrs.
Christensen.
Mrs. Bob Brooks of Listowel visited with
her aunt Mrs. John Barr this week as well.

Alice Clark returned home last week
from a weeks vacation visiting relatives in
Northern Ontario. Also, Alice has been
back and forth to London where her sister
Anne is a patient at the hospital.
Brenda and Clair Steffler have returned
from a two week honeymoon to the east
coast. The couple travelled by way of the
States and returned through Quebec and
Montreal. They tell us they had rain one
day while the rest .of the trip enjoyed
beautiful weather.
Mike and Geraldine Schlosser spent a
few days in Kitchener recently visiting a
niece, Anne Gould and her family.
Bob Purves visited on Sunday with Alice
and Goldwin Purves of Southampton.
Andy and Chris deBeor of Petrolia
returned with Garry and Donna Sutton on
Friday for a few days of vacation. Their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin deBeor,
picked the boys up yesterday.
