Last Thursday Dianne MacKay rode her
bicycle into Ripley from her home on the
Tenth Concession east in Huron township
and return trip about five miles on a nice
pleasant summer evening. As we were .sit-
ting on the front steps tending the house
flowers there, so she dropped over for a talk,
She reported that her mother, Mrs. Norine
MacKay, had been transferred on Tuesday
of that same week, August 4 to Pinecrest
Manor Nursing Home in Lucknow where she
joined a number of Ripley residents such as
Mrs. Charlotte (Allie) MacDonald, Jimmy
Moirier, and Jack Carter and was enjoying
their company there. With Alzheimer
disease or a related condition, she now re-
quired twenty-four hours care per day. At
this particular time a single vacancy occur-
red with the passing of Katherine Murray
recently.
Also on the day before ( Wednesday) the
results of field crops were in the weekly
paper. Dianne was pleased to note that she
was the only lady to have entries in them.
They were fall wheat and barley.
She will show a plastic bag of her wheat
and barley in the grain show at the Ripley
Fall Fair on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25
and 26 in the Complex. Mary Ellen Rim-
melzwaan of Purple Grove, the only lady ex-
hibitor to show in the grain competition, has
moved from this area so Dianne will be tak-
ing her place. She says that she will get Gor-
don Patterson who heads the grain commit-
tee and also is her cousin to look after her
entry or entries here and he is pleased to do
this. Looking back we note that she also has
an entry in barley, so she will be showing a
plastic bag of barley and also can show
more outside, not Ashfield crop entries.
