The United Church Women of
Whitechurch held a special bridal shower
Monday evening for Cindy Moore. The pro-
gram consited of readings, music and
songs. Many gifts were received at the
time including a pretty comforter and
many electrical appliances. Cindy thanked
the large group for their thoughtfulness.
The community is sad to hear of the
passing of Charlie Taylor of Lucknow last
Monday at the Wingham and District
Hospital. Funeral services were held in
I,ucknow last week. He leaves to mourn his
passing two neices and a nephew and a
dear friend in Mr. Tom Wharton of
Lucknow Sentinel W
Belgrave. Charlie Taylor is predeceased
by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Taylor,
two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. Oraland Irwin and family
left for B.C. this wetk were they will be
visiting relatives in that province.
Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emer-
son this week were Jim Chisholm and Mrs.
Sheild and her son George of Milton.
B.C. comes for a visit
George and Louisa Greenaway of British
Columbia have been visiting with Charles
and Mayme Wilkins recently.
Elizabeth Wilkins of Mount Forest is on
holidays from the paper but is spending
her vacation at Five Oaks where she is
lookihg after the music for the senior
citizens who are staying at the facility for
three weeks.
Lindsay, Karen and Shelly Irvin are
spending a couple of days with their grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Robb.
Barbara Wilkins and her neighbour Jean
Miller of Paris (Five Oaks) spent a day
with Charles and Mayme Wilkins.
Betty Jones was in Thorndale on Sunday
where she attended a bridal shower for her
daughter Sherry.
Weekend visitors with Rhetta and
Marion MacLennan were Collin MacLen-
nan of Agincourt and his friend Marlene
Huston of Huron Township and Bruce and
Louise Miller of Palmerston.
Kathie Robson of Gros Point, Michigan
is visiting with Finlay and Margie Mac-
Donald and will be on hand to attend the
annual MacDonald reunion later this
month.
Kenneth Wilkins is at present employed
at the Snobelen Elevator in Lucknow and
we wish him best of luck with the job.
Jim and Kae Webster visited in Clinton
on Tuesday evening with Jack, Marion and
Lloyd Smith.

One of Kingsbridge's most notable
gentleman recently celebrated a truly
noteworthy. event. Frank Sullivan hadd, the
ocassion to mark his 99th birthday on
Saturday, July 25 at the County Road
Lodge of Donald and Dorothy Farrish
where he now resides. Visitors with Frank
remark on his spryness and health. Until
just recently, Frank resided at his home on
Hwy. 21 in Kingsbridge. Frank was
especially thrilled at receiving an
Apostolic Blessing from His Holiness Pope
John Paul The Second to mark the occas-
sion of his birthday.
We wish Frank continued good health,
much happiness and God's blessings.
Former parishioner Ignatius (Nace)
Martin was buried at St. Joseph's in
Kingsbridge following the funeral mass
held on Friday. The community extends its
condolences to his family and friends.
Several members of the parish visited
with the residents of Maitland Manor on
Wednesday, July 29. Because of the
beautiful weather, a number of the
residents were taken out for a stroll.
The Goderich and District Pro -Life
Society held their annual Steak and
Lobster Fest on Saturday, August 1 with
many members from the parish communi-
ty helping out. Proceeds were donated to
Pro -Life.
Congratulations are to be extended to a
young parish member for academic
achievement. James Grubb won a math
award for his Grade 9 studies.
Jack Wilkins of Ashfield Twonship, son
of Charles and Mayme, is very fortunate to
be alive today after a serious tractor acci-
dent on Tuesday of last week. We wish him
a speedy recovery from his injuries which,
we understand, are not of a serious nature.
While thousands of folks merely visited the Craft Festival over the weekend, manly
crafters spent the entire time there manning their displays. Tanya Konings and
