The Lucknow Sentinel, 1987-08-05, Page 6Genealogical research Dear Editor; I'm trying to assist folks with their genealogical research. It seems so many people are trying to compile a family history to pass along to future generations. A few years ago, I sent a copy of a letter from Rev. Jas Scott of Western Canada to the Sentinel. The results were so amazing and gratifying that I've decided to try again. The seeker in this case. is Mr. Richard McCormick of 7451 Cornwall Court, West Bloomfield, Michigan 48033. He is seeking information about Kenny, Fitzpatrick and Dollard folks who came from Ireland to Kinloss Twp. John Kenny (1822-1899) was married to Ann Dollard. They are buried in Holyrood. Their son, Patrick (1849-1912 TO married Margaret Fitzpatrick. Where did they live in Ireland? What were their parents names? If you have any information regarding these families, would you be so kind as to contact Gladys Arnold at Box 35 Ripley, NOG 2R0 or write to Mr. McCormick. Thank -you Gladys Arnold Introducing the law enforcement agency Normally what you would read in the column, is the re-enactment of an unsolved crime that occurred within the Grey Bruce area. This week, Crime Stoppers wishes to introduce another law enforcement agen- cy, actively participating in the program - the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The function of the R.C.M.P. in this area is to enforce the Federal Statutes, two of which incpude the Narcotic Control Act and the Food and Drug Act. The following is an example of how assistance has been provided in the past, and how residents of Grey Bruce can pro- vide similar assistance in the future con- cerning illicit drug related offences. "On the 18th of June 1987, information was received by police, concerning an in- dividual that was involved in the transpor- tation of illicit drugs from southern On- tario to the Chesley area. As a result of that information, a joint investigation was initiated by the Owen Sound Detachment Royal Canadian Mounted' Police and Chesley Police Force. On the 23rd of June, 1987, R.C.M.P. and Chesley Police Force officers conducted surveillence in the Chesley area, which result in the stopping of a vehicle just in - CRIME side the Chesley town limits. The oc- cupants of the vehicle were arrested, and the vehicle they were in, subsequently searched. Asa result of the search, a relatively large quantity of Psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms) was seized from a camera bag located _behind the drivers seat. Both occupants were charged with an of- fence contrary to the Food and Drug Act. It is felt that without the assistance of the tip provided, police would have never been aware of the restricted drugs that were being brought into the Chesley area. If you can help in cases similar to this one, Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce are willing to pay a reward up to $1,000.00, for information that leads to an arrest. Call 1-800-265-3787. You need not identify yourself, and all information is strictly confidential. Fun at the Festival The annual Lucknow Craft Festival held over the weekend had lots of surprises for kids of all ages.
