Members of their community along with friends and relatives from across the province gathered together to show their appreciation for a lifetime of service to the church. (Rob Bundy photo) Sisters honored • from page 1 their appreciation of dedication to the church in a special service and luncheon. Bishop Robert Townshend was the celebrant and preacher for the service as was fitting since his father, Rev. William Townshend of London, held this ministry for three years starting in 1926. "It was lovely to see everyone," says Edna. "I remember seeing an 87 -year-old man and a seven -day-old child sitting together in the church. It was truly lovely." Special note should be made to Rev. Merelyn Letson who, with the help of a `special group of people, organized the event. Following the moving service, which in- cluded Edna and May's favorite hymns `Joyful Joyful, We Adore Thee', and `Thank You Lord' with lessons read by Ruth Thompson, Mrs. Eric Thacker and Reuben Bernett, the group moved downstairs for a luncheon and social time where guests were able to offer their greetings. Receiving everyone at the reception were Marjorie Thompson and Agnes Hodgins. Rev. Merelyn Letsonacted as chairperson and, after the grace, everyone present enjoyed a meal prepared by the ladies of the church, Joining Edna and May at the head table were Bishop and Mrs. Robert Townshend, Mrs. Jim Allan, Rev. Merelyn Letson, Miss Joan Elliott, Mrs. Gwen Shoebottom, Mr. and Mrs. Ker- mit Thompson and son Ivan, Mrs. (Bishop) Muriel Appleyard, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Appleyard, Mrs. Gertrude Walsh, Mrs. Norine '(Hodgins) Sieloff with Calvin and Joan Page. Edna and May Boyle are very special. members of the church and would be assets to any community. Their work and dedication, while all volunteer, is recogniz- ed with thanks from so many.
