Family on holiday while fire claims shed
On Sunday afternoon, the garage of Jack
and Doreen Maili was burnt to the ground.
The Lucknow Fire Department was there
in time to save the nearby home. Jack,
Doreen and there two sons are on holiday.
A community bridal shower was held
Thursday evening at the Kairshea Hall in
honor of Wendy Forster. Nancy Maclntrye
chaired the evening and opened with a
poem entitled `Love'.
There was a sing -along led by Ruth Bell
and Thelma Clarke. Ruth Buchmeier gave
a reading titled 'Her Wedding Day' and
Margaret Hamilton read 'What is a Hus-
band'. A very entertaining skit, `Getting
the Marriage Licence', was performed by
Marilynne and Helen Maclntyre. Olive
Needham read an address before Wendy
and her friends opened gifts. Cake and Ice
cream finished the evening.
Betty and Greg Welsh and Cameron of
Kingston visited with Gladys and Barry
Johnston and other friends in the area.
They left for China on Tuesday where Greg
is involved with the administration of
University Teaching.
Our community would like to welcome
Barb Young and Larry Harper and John,
Christopher and Kim to the area. They
have moved here from New Dundee to the
farm of Doris and Fraser MacKinnion.
Barb is the daughter of Alice and Clarence
Ritchie.
Also home with the Ritchie family was
Steve and Trudy Ritchie of Watervalley,
Alberta and Brenda and Barcley, Melanie
and Peter of Carlingford.
The community expresses sincere sym-
pathy to Irene and Bill Haldenby and fami-
ly on the death of Irene's father Cliff
Roulston.
