there."
At the Bruce Primary Counselling Ser-
vice, counsellers work with individuals,
couples and families with a wide range of
problems and offer group therapy for men
and women. "The problem could be batter-
ing, break-up, depression - the list goes
on," said Lois Hinz, director. "We also
have therapy support groups for families
struggling with teenagers."
Information presented during the open
meeting was intended, not only for those
present, but for farmers to take back to
their neighborhoods and tell others who
are experiencing problems in farming.
"If we're going to get any place, we're
going to have to have a unified voice," said
Roy Pennington, reeve of Culross
Township, chairman of the meeting.
"We've got to stand up and be counted."
Pennington was generally pleased with
the outcome of the evening's meeting. "I
would liked to have seen more there, but if
you had 100 people and nobody took part,
you wouldn't accomplish anything. I was
really pleased with the reaction from the
audience."
Monday night's meeting was a trial run
for similar sessions to be held throughout
the county. The idea to hold the meetings
originated back in February at Bruce
Directions '87, a day -long meeting of
several farm families, organizations and
agencies. At that time a committee was
formed to decide on a method of getting
needed information out to the farming
community about services available.
Because of the success of Monday
night's meeting, Pennington said the com-
mittee will go ahead with another meeting,
probably farther up the county in the
('hesley or Paisley area.
There will be one change forthe next
meeting. A few farmers who arrived late
were more than likely busy on the farm
and found it difficult to make a 7:30
meeting.
"The next one will be later. That's one
mistake we made," said Pennington. "We
started too early."
Nursing home award
KINCARDINE - A new 40 -bed nursing
home to be located in Kincardine, -original-
ly awarded to Kincardine Nursing Home
Limited in late 1984, has been re -awarded
to Versa -Care Limited, Health Minister
Murray Elston announced today.
The award was withdrawn in early April
after it became apparent that Kincardine
Nursing Home Limited was unable to
fulfill the terms and conditions of the
award within the specified time frame.
"The decision to -re -award the beds to
Versa -Care was based upon their 1984 pro-
posal, and their record of performance in
operating nursing homes across Ontario,"
Mr. Elston commented.
Versa -Care Limited currently owns and
operates 13 homes with a combined total of
1,354 beds; this includes the nine Bestview
nursing homes which Versa -Care acquired
last year. The company also 'manages
other nursing homes in the province on a
contract basis'.
Versa -Care has acquired an appropriate
site in Kincardine. In accepting the award,
the company has agreed to arrange for
necessary zoning changes without delay,
as well as confirm financial arrangements
and submit initial plans for the home for
ministry approval by the end of August.
The new home is expected to be open by
the end of .1988:
The Grey -Bruce District Health. Council
recommended that the nursing home beds
be.established in Kincardine:
Can you find your house? This is a view of the Village of Lucknow from about 1,000
feet above the ground taken last week. Note the new empty lot on Campbell Street and
the building soon to open as the Lucknow Village Market. Our thanks to Glen and
Roberta for the plane ride that provided the aerial view.
