Jumbo's Dream is off to the races, and wins
On Sunday, June 21 the three-year old
pacing filly, Jumbo's Dream, won the fifth
division of the Ontario Sire Stakes at the
Tony Vandyke, son of Bill and Dora Van-
dyke of Lucknow, and Laurie West,
daughter of Jim and Jayne West of
Goderich, celebrated the holy bonds of
matrimony at a service held at the
Ashfield Presbyterian Church on May 30,
1987.
Rev. Hugh Nugent officiated the
ceremony which saw Laurie attended by
friends Bonnie MacDonald of Goderich
and Debbie Courtney of Ripley as well as
by her cousin Heather Mills of Weston.
Standing up with Tony were friends Jim
VanOsch and Jeff Alton both of Lucknow
and brother of the bride Alex West of
Toronto.
Ann Pritchard of Lucknow provided the
organ music with a lovely solo being sung
by Mrs. Steve MacNay of Kincardine.
Following the church ceremony guests
attended a reception at the Lucknow Com-
munity Centre to wish Tony and Laurie
good luck as they left for a honeymoon trip
to the Ponocos in Pennsylvania.

Orangeville Raceway. This was the fastest
of the five divisions with Jumbo's Dream
going the mile in two minutes and three fif-
ths seconds.
The filly was raised and trained by Ross
Forster of Jurnbo Stables in Huron
Township. She is co -owned by Ross
Forster and Ronald Thompson of Petrolia.
The local United Church held their 125th
Anniversary over the weekend and a

number of former residents of Lucknow
were able to come back to help in the
celebrations. The weekend saw an ex -

passes away at 74
MARY EDNA BOYD
Mary Edna Boyd of 1040 Huron Terrace,
Kincardine, passed -away in Kincardine and
District General Hospital on Thursday,
June 18, 1987, of a heart attack.
Born in Huron Township on September 23,
1913, she was the daughter of the late John
Cameron and Maude Strachan.
She married Mac Boyd of Ashfield
Township in Huron Township on November
14, 1934.
She is survived by one son Glenn Boyd of
RR 4 Ripley, and two daughters Mary Gib-
son, RR 3 Goderich, and Gayle Lowry of RR
1 Kincardine.
She is also survived by one sister
Margaret of London.
- She was predeceased by five brothers, two
sisters and one grandson.
She was a ;member of the Pine River
United Church and the Pine River United
Church Women. She was also a member of
the Women's Institute.
The funeral was held Saturday, June 20 at
2 p.m. at—the Davey-Linklater Funeral
Home with Rev. Robert Stokes and Rev.
Robert Putman of the Pine River United
Church officiating.
Flower bearers were her granddaughters
Laurie Dalton, Lisa Van Dyke, Heather
Boyd, Kathryn Boyd, Kendry Lowry and
Trina Lowry.
Pallbearers were Glenn Boyd, Lynn
Lowry, Ernie Gibson, Danny Boyd, Alex
Boyd and Kent Lowry.
Interment in Ripley Cemetery.
Jarhes Joseph Gilmore
On Sunday, June 21 James Joseph
Gilmore passed away at age 69 at the
Wingham and District Hospital.
He spent his life farming in Ashfield
Township and was an active member of
the St. Josephs Church at Kingsbridge.
James Joseph Gilmore was born in
Ashfield Township in the County of Huron
on April 28, 1918 to Robert and Theresa
Gilmore and was married to Irene Milne,
formerly of London, on December 6, 1968.
The couple had no children.
He is survived by brothers Edward of
Calgary and Gerald. of London and by
sisters Frances of London, Margaret of
Alexandria V.A., Helen , of Dunnville as
well as several nieces and nephews. He
was predeceased by Della Kretz, 1980, and
Arthur, 1986.
Funeral services were held from the
MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home
in Lucknow with an lla.m. mass held at
the St. Josephs Catholic Church in
Kingsbridge. Funeral mass was
celebrated by Father Paul Milne and
assisted by Father Ed Dentinger.
Graveside prayers were conducted by
Father Milne.
Acting as pallbearers were Beu McNay,
Allan Gibson, Ray Hogan, Tom Gilmore,
Phil McCann and Maurice VanOsch.
Interment in the St. Josephs Cemetary,
Kingsbridge.

the Sunday service. Following the special
service a lovely dinner was served at the
complex by the church ladies.
Mrs. Emily Robinson of Ottawa and her
daughter Shirley attended the 125th
celebrations and also had a chance to visit
with friends while in Lucknow. Emily
visited on Sunday afternoon with Elleda
and Clarence Irwin on Highway 86 West.
Mrs. Verna Elphick and Mrs. ' Elsie
Houston attended the 75th Anniversary
dinner of the Pinkerton Women's Institute
on Wednesday, June 24 held at Inspiration
Place in Paisley. Former members from
Hanover, Watloo, Scarborough and Kin-
cardine were also present at the function.
MACLEOD-Mr. and Mrs. John MacLeod
of Lucknow are pleased to announce the
arrival of a son, John Stewart, on Thurs-
day, June 18. The new MacLeod weighed in
at 9Ibs 12 oz. at his birth at the Wingham
District Hospital and will be a fine brother.

MacLeod of Lucknow are the proud grand-
parents of both boys.
HICKS -Mr. and Mrs. David Hicks of RR2
Wingham welcomed new son Blair Allan to
the family on Saturday, June 20. Blair tip-
ped the scales at 8- lbs. 6 oz at his birth at
the Wingham and District Hospital and
joins brother Brett in the family.
HAMILTON -John and Nancy Hamilton of
Lucknow are pleased to announce the birth
of their second child, Julie Amanda,
weighing 9 lbs., 3 oz. on June 24, 1987 at the
Wingham and District Hospital. Julie is a
sister for Tyler. Proud grandparents are
Harold Errington of RR2 Auburn and Bud
and Josie Hamilton of Lucknow. Great
grandparents are Jack and Doreen McGee
of Wingham, Sadie Hamilton and Verna
Elphick of Lucknow.
