Coach of Ripley Soccer
Dave Leeper of RR 2 Kincardine is the
coach of the Ripley area entry in the boys
and girls team in the soccer football. As well
as coaching he writes up the report of the
game. Last Friday he made the following
one for this paper:
"Last Thursday evening the McKecknie
Pharmacy sponsored Ripley Peewee Ban-
tam team played Kincardine No. 1 team at
Ripley in . a very exciting contest.
Kincardine opened very strongly and
within the space of ten minutes Ripley were
behind 3-0 as the defence were a little hesi-
tant and Kincardine broke through. Captain
Scott Allen rallied the team at this stage and
toward the end of the first half the Ripley
defence . tightened with inspiring efforts
from Mandy Farrell, Janine Hodgins and
Joanne Pollock.
Thwarting the Kincardine forwards time
and again Ripley opened the second half
strongly and were rewarded when Ken
Neabel scored from Angela Collins. Con-
tinued pressure saw Shelly Hewitt connect
on a long bomb from the sidelines. Shortly
after which Ken Neabel counted again a
series of close calls around the Kincardine
net. Special mention to Rob Neabel and
Janine Hodgins for playing wounded and to
Bill and Rob Cooper, Doug and Angie Col-
lins, Deane Stanley and Tracy Phelan, for-
wards who are starting to work better
together and providing some exciting
moments for the spectators.
Thanks goes to Dave for bringing soccer
back to Ripley and for this write-up of the
game.
