Council to purchase lot
Kinloss council met for the regular
meeting on June 1, with Reeve Barry
Johnston and all council members present.
Council passed a motion to purchase
part of lot 59, concession 1 from Canadian
National Real Estate for $2,400 subject to.
being able to secure a proper deed for the
property.
The quotation of Koppers International
Canada Ltd. for $5,836 was accepted for
corrugated metal pipe requirements for
1987.
By-law number 10-1987 was given first
and second readings to provide for the
maintenance and repair of the John H.
Ackert municipal drain.
Ross Dobson's tender to route and seal
cracks on sideroad 35 northerly for 2.75
miles and on concession 2 for .25 miles was
accepted for 98 cents per metre based, on
3,000 metres. The work is to be completed
by September 15.
Building permit applications were ac-
cepted for Gert DeJong, concession 3 to
construct an addition to an existing barn,
for James and Heather Hunter, concession
5 to extend a kitchen and to add two rooms
to the rear of a house and fort .inloss
Community Centre to erect addition to
the centre.
General accounts for $6,709.33 and road
accounts for $16,217.63 were approved.
Elston announces township grants
Murray Elston, MPP for Huron -Bruce,
recently announced $65,000 in supplemen-
tary funds for West Wawanosh Township.
He made the announcement on behalf od
the Honorable Ed Fulton, Minister of
Transportation and Communications.
"These funds represent a significant
contribution to the transportation system
in West Wawanosh Township," Hon. Mur-
ray Elston said., This additional funding
was made possible by the treasurer's an-
nouncement in his budget of May 20, 1987,
as part of the Government's effort to im-
prove and rehabilitate the municipal road
systems in Ontario.
"The Government of Ontario is commit-
ted to roads and highways as generators of
economic growth and as links for families
and emergency services," he said.
The supplementary grant represents the
province's contribution toward the grader
project and will be transferred to West
Wawanosh Township on the projects
completion.
Slow -pitch teams get $200 each
West Wawanosh Township council met
June 1 and discussed a number of items.
Attending the meeting were Delmar
Sproul and Randy Kerr who requested
financial assistance for council for the Nile
slow pitch teams. Council voted to make a
donation of $200 to each of the two Nile
slow pitch teams.
A donation of $1,100 was also granted to
the Blyth and District Community Centre
Board of 1987.
The Huron Plowmen's Association was
given a $50 grant for, 1987.
The application of Robert McAllister at
a contract price of $8 per hour for supervi-
sion at the Landfill Site was accepted.
The tender of Bannerman contracting
Limited of Kincardine at $1.07 per cubic
yard for laoding and hauling approximate-
ly 25,000 cubic yards of pit run gravel was
accepted.
The road superintendent was authorized
to investiaget the rental of a mower for
mowing roadsides and a contractor to
spray certain roadsides for weeds.
The application for loan for tile drainage
submitted by George MacKinnon for the
part of lot 14, concession 9 in the amount of
$6,700 was approved.
Marketing topic 4-H club meeting

TheJhird meeting of the Lucknow Calf
Club was held on May 20 at the home of
Glenn Coultes.
The club started the meeting by judging
steers and giving reasons for their
placings.
The members then went back to the
house and viewed a video tape on
marketing, brought to the meeting by
leader Ken MeWhinney. The members
also went over the meeting from their
books.
It was decided the next meeting will be
held on June 8 at the home of Harvey
Black.
The fourth meeting of the Lucknow Calf
Club was held at the home of Dianne and
Darlene Black on June 8.
The meeting dealt with marketing and
grading of steers and heifers. We discuss-
ed different reasons for marketing and the
classes of grading.
The next meeting will be held June 30 at
Steven Rintoul's.
