St. Helen's meeting held fast week
St. Helen's Women's Institute held a
Grandmothers meeting on Thursday, June
4 at 8 p.m. in the Hall.
As each grandmother arrived, , she
received a corsage from the committee in
charge, Isobel Miller and Marg Cranston.
The president, Lila Rintoul, opened the
meeting and after the Opening Ode and
Mary Stewart Collect, Muriel Moffat read
the minutes of the May meeting and gave
the treasurer's report. •
Correspondence included .a letter from
Sybil Chandler thanking us for inviting her
to the District Annual as a guest as she is a
former member of the institute and a
former president of the District. A preser-
vation workshop will be held at Huronview
for preserving fruits and vegetables on
June 18. It was decided to buy topsoil to
complete the levelling of the grounds
around the Hall also that the siding on the
Hall should be completed as well as in-
sulating the washrooms.
The report of theDistrict annual at Blyth
on May 25 was given by Edith Cooper. The
speaker at the meeting was Mrs. Ross
from Oxford District Institute, the sponsor
of "The Butler Project" which is
endeavoring to put livestock pictures and
information in every Ontario school to be
used by teachers and students. The pic-
tures are orginals by Oxford County resi-
dent Ross Butler whi is known interna-
tionally. The originals have been on
display at the London Art Gallery. Dona-
tions for the project are being requested.
Each kit costs $50 and there are 5,000
schools to be supplied.
Minutes of yesteryear, July 1966 to
March 1967, were given by Isobel Miller .
A contest for grandmothers was conducted
by Marg Cranston which resulted in each
grandmother present receiving at least
one prize.
The disappearance of an oil painting
which had been painted by Mrs, Ethel
Rutherford and given to the Instituteto be
hung in the Hall is causing concern since
no one seems to know what happened to it.
The meeting closed With 0 Canada and

Here's a remedy for those busy summer days.
Put the energy and enthusiasm of students to
work for you.
Students are willing to do just about any
sort of work from part-time duties around the
house, to career -oriented jobs.
Every summer, students provide a wealth
• of talent, knowledge and ingenuity that
every employer can tap.
So, for fast, temporary relief from nagging
summer jobs - put them in the hands ofa
student!
