Wingham and District Hospital, paid tribute to two retir- ing members of the board at its May meeting last Thursday evening. Mr. Pike is currently chairman of the finance and audit committee, while Mr. Kuyvenhoven is a former board chairman. Mrs. Thompson saluted the contribution of both men to the hospital board and their many years of dedication to quality health care in the community. Mr. Kuyvenhoven was Turnberry Township's representative for a number of years, while Mr. Pike was appointed by the County of Huron. Turnberry Township has nominted Doris Inglis to the position, which will be voted upon at the June 18 annual meeting. At last week's hospital board meeting, Dr. Brian Hanlon asked why the county has a representative on the Wingham board since it does not contribute toward the hospital on a yearly basis. While itis true the county is not pro- viding funding to the hospital this year, said Mr. Pike, it certainly has in the past. It is the county's practice to contribute toward capital projects and when the new emergency wing was added to the Wingham hospital two year's ago, the county contributed almost $100,000. This year the county is contributing toward a long -overdue project at the Seaforth hospital, he said, as well as the Goderich hospital. In addition to reporting to county council on a yearly basis, Mr. Pike said county hospital board representatives met regularly to discuss trends and direction in health care. Earlier in the meeting, . Mgrs. Marie Phillips, president of the Auxiliary to the Wingham and District Hospital, was welcomed to the board. She replaces Mrs. Marilyn Wood. r STAG & DOE Saturday, June 13th for BILL McALLISTER and BETH DOTTERER For information call: 529-7589 529-7479 524-9567 Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, June 3, 1987—Page 7 FINN WIN 482-7103 PECK APPLIANCES "IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN VARNA" BEST RATE AEINVESTMENTS FINANCIAL CENTRE, GODERICH 524-2773 1-800-265.5503 Phone 357-1630 for 24 hour movie information PLAYING FROM FRIDAY TO THURSDAY.
