Community Shower held for local bride-to-be last week
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Stanley and Terry
visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ezra
Stanley at Lucknow.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Steven
Allen of Perth on the arrival of their baby
daughter Kristi Melissa on May 14. Proud
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Win and
Karen Allen of Ripley. Steve grew up at
the Holyrood Store.
Mrs. Phoebe (Hodgkinson) Stanley pass-
ed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, London.
The funeral was held on Monday at
Lucknow. The deceased grew up in our
community and attended Kinlough school.
Pastor M. Christensen conducted the
funeral service.
Misses Caroline and Lori Ann Fawthrop
of Markham called on former neighbors
here on Sunday.
Mrs. Nellie McKinnon of Kincardine
spent a few days at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Weir Eckenswiller.
Pte. Darrel Barr of Trenton air base
visited with his grandmother Mrs. John.
Barr over the'We'eloieid and on Monday
with his great grandmother Casey who
celebrated her 100th birthday at the Coll-
ingwood Nursing Home.
Mrs. John Barr, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barr
Donald and Darrell Barr were Sunday
evening dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs.
Morley Bushell at Wingham.
Mrs. Jean Hodgins and Miss Norma
Coults of Wingham visited on Monday with
Edna and May Boyle.
We were glad to see some of the wagon
train party arriving home on Monday
afternoon after a most enjoyable weekend
together.
Ladies from here attended a bridal
shower as the Kairshea Institute hall on
Thursday evening for Miss Marilyn Mur-
ray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Murray
of Concession 8.
We hope all the Lucknow school band en-
joyed their annual bus trip.
Mrs. Tom McDonald, Mrs. Frank
Maulden and Miss May Boyle visited on
Friday with Mrs. Lyman Sutton at `
Teeswater.
Mrs. Don Wall accompanied Rev.
Merelyn Leston and the other parish
delegates to London where they attended
the Synod of Diocese of Huron.
Kinlough Presbyterian WMS
The Kinlough Presbyterian W.M.S. met
on Wednesday afternoon May 20 at the
home of Mrs. Don Robertson.
The president, Mrs. Bert Thompson,
opened with "A Mother's prayer for her
sons" followed by the opening hymn and
the repeating of the purpose.
Mrs. Thompson gave the report of the
Synodical held at Listowel. The financial
committee will now make the decision
regarding mileage, telephone and other
expenses without final agreement from
Synod.
Lois Powice spoke on Armagh House
showing slides and the need for it and
hopefully it will be operational by
September.
The president reported on the
Presbyterial at Brussels.
Mrs. Don Robertson had the devotions
on psalm 139 "God is good and over all".
David has given a good insight in God's
hand in the affairs of man. He is with us at
all times, whether they be good days or
bad times. Think of the intricate design of
the bee. It has 10,000 cells for honey and an
inner sanctum for the Queen Bee. If God
can do so much for the tiny creatures, look
how great things He will do for us for He is
over all and in all. The devotions closed
with prayer.
Mrs. Tom McDonald had the program
telling of Miss Mary Verghese, a woman in
India who has just graduated as a doctors.

Haldenbys visit in Sarnia

Marie and Barry Haldenby spent last
weekend in Sarnia visiting with Barry's
parents Harold and Madeline Haldenby
and other relatives and friends.
On the long weekend, a tragic fire occur-
red at the home of Bryan Gammie and
family where they lost their house and
possessions.
Congratulations to Marilyn Murray and
Garry Carruthers who were married in
Goderich on Friday, May 22.
The Lucknow Concert Band had a very
joyful band trip for four days where they
played in different cities. On the first day,
the band played a concert in Guelph.
Congratulations to Ann Simpson and Ed
Lippert who were married on Friday in
Goderich with a dinner at the Maitland
Restaurant in Wingham.
