At approximately 2:30 in the afternoon
of October 30 last year, a lone gunman
entered the Port Elgin Branch of the
Toronto Dominion Bank.
He was armed with a sawed-off shotgun,
wore a dark blue balaclava, beige knee-
length trench coat, dark pants possibly,
jeans, brown work boots, white surgical
gloves and was carryfng a white shopping
bag.
He entered through the side door from
the parking lot. Once in the bank, he
ordered everyone down and forced the
manager to fill the shopping bag, taking
approximately $13,000 in cash from the
tills. After unsuccessfully trying to open
the main safe, the culprit ordered the bank
manager to get his car keys. He then
escorted the manager at gunpoint to the
parking lot, forced him to lie down and
stole the car, a 1984 four -door red Tempo.
As the vehicle pulled out of the laneway,
speeding southbound on Bricker Street,
the driver was observed by one witness
removing his balaclava. That allowed
police to produce a composite sketch. The
subject is described as a male, white, six
foot, 200 pounds, approximately 30. years -
of -age.
On January 8 of this year., the vehicle
was uncovered in a wooded area in
Saugeen Township, approximately 300
metres from the road.
If you can help, Crime Stoppers will pay
a reward "up to" $1,000 for any informa-
tion leading to an arrest on this or any
other crime. Phone 1-800-265-3787. You
need not identify yourself and all informa-
tion is strictly confidential.

Well, if April showers bring May flowers
then I think we're right on schedule. We
also have new programs popping up at the
Day Centre because of the season.
There's nothing like a spring fashion
display and bake sale to entice people out
of their homes. There will be a display of
adaptable clothing provided by Geri -
Fashions of London and a funding -raising
bake sale on Wednesday May 20 from 10
a.m. - 3 p.m. Come out for a cup of coffee
or tea -- compliments of the Day Centre.
The Centre newest craft projects are: 1
— wood carving with lightweight balsa
wood and; 2 — decorating wooden boxes
(for lack of a better description) and; 3 —
wicker wall hangings. If you have any par-
ticular craft projects that we might enjoy
— please let us know. We welcome any
new ideas.
The next foot clinics sponsored by Com-
munity Nursing Services will be on May 7
and 27. Call 357-1440 for an appointment.
National Fit -Week -is May 23 - May 20.
Senior Citizens (55 and up) across Canada
are invited to join in a walk to the moon.
(Don't believe me, do you! ) The Elderobic
Moonwalk is becoming a popular yearly
event. Canadian seniors walked 258,000
miles (the distance to the moon) last year
during Fit -Week and are planning to do
that again this year. All local mileage
must be recorded with the United Senior
Citizens of Ontario Inc. in Toronto.
The Day Centre is planning special walk-
ing events during Fit -Week with the grand
finale being a walk-in garden party at the
Wingham Riverside Park on Thursday
May 28. Musical entertainment provided
by Gord's Olde Tyme Music and there will
be lots of refreshments. Get your sneakers
shined up and ready to walk.
Charles Dickens, famous novelist said in
the middle of the century, "The sum of the
whole is this: Walk and be happy; walk
and be healthy: it is the best way to
lengthen our days." He must have known
about the Elderobic Moonwalk! !
Our next meeting for our Board of Direc-
tors is Monday May 25. Our annual
meeting this year will be Monday June 15
with a special guest speaker. Everyone
welcome.
June is also National Senior Citizens
Month so watch for more special activities
next month.
