The students sang Rock Around the Clock and they really enjoyed dressing in 50's costumes. Also Constable Marshall came into the classroom, to talk about boat safety on April 29. The class reporters are Heather Jeffer- son and Janice Webster. Grade 4 Room 9 Joshua Asnong found a balloon which came from Heather Auld in Ripon, Wisconsin. On . Tuesday, April 28, the Grade 4 classroom had Pay Day. Most girls and boys got between $1,000 and $1,500. Grade 4 would like to thank Mrs. Mckenzie for the time she spent with the class. A lot of people came to Brookside's Spr- ing Concert. The class thanks Mrs. Jewitt and Mrs. Worsell for organizing the choir. Grade 4 found out that water beatles eat frogs. Amanda and Jenean Todd found some crayfish. Jenean's crayfish is having babies and Amanda's crayfish died. The class reporters are Amanda Todd and Tenille Cranston. Grade 8 The Grade 8's had some fun making props for the concert. But, the fun's all over! The class started football in Phys. Ed. on April 29. For the fourth day, Mrs. Linton came to talk about Family Life. She came on April 28. Mrs. Graham came to the class to help the students make marionettes on Thursday, April 23, Fri- day, April 24 and Tuesday, April 28. The class started writing play with which to act out the puppets. Mr. Robinson from the Goderich high school came and talked about how to write plays. The class reporters are Melanie Wylds and Debbie Nivins. Grade 7 On Wednesday night, Brookside held its Spring Concert. Most of the Grade 7 class participated in the senior choir and the rest were backstage helpers and lighting BROOKSIDE crew members. The class would like to give special thanks to Daryl Graham for his artistic ideas and to Mrs. Bonnie Jewitt for her great organizing. The concert was another great success! On Friday, the class finished up the wolf unit with a movie called "Kavik the Wolf Pup". The class has learned many things about wolves. The Grade 7 reporters are Matthew Sproul and Rhonda Dickson. Grade 3 Room 10 Mrs. Ottewell's Grade 3 class is beginn- ing a study on agriculture and are enjoying the' toy farm machinery that some children are bringing. The students are also busy practising for their part in the concet - being stars, fish, donkeys and pigs in "Swinging on a Star." Some students sang in the junior choir. Mrs. Graham taught the students how to make Chinese firecrackers, paper cups, a boat and a dragon's mouth by folding paper. The class also learned how to divide this week. The class reporters are jennifer Moir and Claire Weir. Grade 6 Room 8 Mr. Liddle's Grade 6 students are writing to their penpals in Price Edward Island at L.M. Montgomery School. Mr. Liddle's class received a scrapbook from their penpals at the school. The scrapbook had information on the school and on the school's namesake, Lucy Maude Montgomery. Mr. Liddle's class is participating in a play for the Spring Concert. The choir will sing the song while the class acts it out. The play is called "Don Gato". It's about a lady cat who falls in love with the cat, Don Gato. And when Don Gato received the let- ter from the lady cat he was so happy he Turn to page 15
