The first meeting of the Kairshea 441
Habitat Conservation Club, sponsored by
the Kairshea WI, was held at the farm of
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mali on April 18. Mr.
and Mrs. Mali are the club leaders assisted
by Mrs. Sharon Stein.
The slate of officers elected are as
follows: President - Gary Stein; Vice -
President - Cailin Clarke; Secretary -
Treasurer - Karen Featon and Press
Reporter - Marita MacDougall.
The 12 -member group took a hike
through the bush and observed habitats of
different animals. The preservation of
marshes and forests were discussed outlin-
ing the benefits to animals and mankind
The members enjoyed the hike on such a
pleasant spring day and the meeting clos-
ed with the 4-R Motto,.

The Port Albert Sew and Sews, met on
April 22 for their third meeting of Sewing
Plus in the home of Donna Haydens.
After reciting the 4-H pledge, the minutes
were read .and roll call was taken. This
meeting was based on the care of a sewing
machine and seam samples. The leaders
helped all the members make a hem sample
and a collar sample but they first showed
several ways to make our hem sample and
the proper way to make a collar.
Afterwards, the members received sheets
with interfacing and cotton with cotton
blend samples stapled to them, which were
to go in . our books. Each member also
received a home catalogue of patterns by
Kwik -Sew courtesy of The Sewing Box in
Lucknow. ,

High man was Leonard McDonald with a
single of 245 and a double of 426. Jake Con-
ley was second with a single of 222 and a
double of 386. Ian Doughterty had the third
high single of 192 and Bill Uuldricks had
the third high double of 350.
Marie Park rolled high for the ladies
with a single of 241 and a double of 414.
Jean Phillips was second with a single of
208 and a double of 389. Next high single
went to Fern McDonald with a 188 and the
next high double went to Belle Herbert
with a 358.

In bowling on April 16, the high single of
264 went to Shani Webb while the high tri-
ple of 687 was bowled by Barb Tyler.
