Let us proceed with speaker Number 1.
Yes, that's what I'm talking about
speeches.
The speechs from Lucknow Central were
excellent. The students spent lots of hard
work on them.
Grades one to three entertained us with
their speechs in the gym.
Unfortunately there were only four
speakers that could go on from the seniors
and juniors to the Legion. The four
speakers were very nervous but they did
well. Two of our speakers got 2nd and 3rd.
Then later the four speakers got another
chance to go on to Ripley District School.
Fortunately 2 of our speakers got prizes of
1st and 3rd. Jill Campbell won lst. She will
now go on to the County Zone. Good Luck
Jill.
A big thank -you to the judges for judging
the students. It was a very hard job.
THANKS.

An editorial from the 1880's
I read in the newspaper this week that
the School Board in Hamilton refused to
endorse the Domestic Science Program.
This was to be a program to help educate
young girls and women in the Domestic
Sciences.
Adelaide Hoodles a champion for
women's rights then went to the YWCA
and they agreed to offer the course. By
1895 Adelaide Hoodles was the National
President of the YWCA Domestic Science
courses. By this time they were being
taught all over Canada. The Ontario
Government had finally realized the
benefits of such a program. Now such pro-
grams are taught all over the world.

Grade 8 are LOPS "Kings"
We're Kings of the school for only a year.
The thought of high school brings us fear.
If we fail we'll come back again.
But if we leave it will bring us pain.
For this is the school we all love the best.
We don't want to leave our cozy nest.
But it's time for the pictures so bring us
the roses.
It's time right now to strike the proud
poses.
Of future parents of another generation.
But for now we're awaiting the summer
vacation.
The time that will separate L.C.P.S.
And the place where we'll find new
happiness.

Mr. Mugs' Easter
The Easter bunny was walking in the
rain. Curt saw the Easter bunny and said
"Hi, can I please have an Easter egg?"
Mr. Mugs was walking downtown to see
the Easter bunny. "Please can I have an
Easter egg" he said. The Easter bunny let
him have an Easter egg. Pat was walking
on the sidewalk. She saw the Easter bun-
ny. "Please may -I have an Easter egg?"
she said. The Easter bunny said "Here you
can have an egg if you want." Everyone
got an Easter egg and was happy.
Lassie Tom Symes
Ode day I was on the porch. And I saw a
dog. His name was Lassie. I called him
here and he came to me. I waited for his
owner for 3 days. In time his owner came
for him. I' said good-bye. I miss him.

Snakes
Snakes shed their skin every few times.
Snakes eat other animals like frogs and
lizards. I picked up a garter snake. I like
picking up that snake. It felt dry.

My Dog
One day I got a dog and I took it to my
house. My Dad said yes you can keep the
dog. The next day I played with him all
day. A car went by and he chased and
chased it. I said, "stop that stop that ! " and
he came back and he never chased after
anymore cars. He thinks that I'm more fun
to play with than the cars.

Healthy Me
One day I .was hungry so I ate an apple. I
like apples. The next day I ate a banana. I
like bananas too. The next day I came
back from school I was so hungry so I ate
an orange. It was yummy! At night time I
drink some milk before I go to sleep. I
guess that's why they call me Healthy Me.

Snowman
Build a snowman
Build it high
Make it perfect
To touch the sky
A cheery nose
And a perfect pose
A scent of a rose
And little white toes
Some are small
Some are tall and
Little Children make them all.

Out in a Pasture
One day a girl with velvet boots went in-
to the pasture. A moment later she saw a
boy trying to put a saddle on a horse. She
said to the boy as she laughed, "You ca►i't
put a saddle on that way!" After her ride,
she went exploring. She found one of
nature's prettiest birds sitting on the
carpet. The kids built a nest for the birds
and put the carpet inside.
