Spend money, buy a truck if I had $ 1 million
How My Life Would Change
If I Won a Million Dollars
If I won a million dollars I wouldn't want
my life to change because I would pro-
bably have my friends. It would be
reasonable to put it in the bank because
you would be able to live off of the interest.
The rest of the money I would spend in
about a year and get a new truck for dad
because he wants to get one the colours of
blue, orange, white and light blue. I hope
that my friends wouldn't look at me like I
knew it all because I've won the money. It
would be great to get a million dollars!

Freddie
I began my life as Freddie, I was a little
blossom that started growing. After a few
months I started growing into a little ap-
ple. I was nice and big. Mr. Burkhart pick-
ed me off an apple tree. And a girl took a
knife and started peeling me. She carved
my eyes, my mouth, my nose and my ears.
Then I was done. Later in the day I was in
a race and I won first place. After awhile it
was the champion race and I was in it plus
five others. I won first prize. I was proud.

Drama Club
This year Kathy Broad is the teacher of
Drama Club and the Gr. 4 at Lucknow Cen-
tral. The Club is held every Tuesday at
noon hour. Lately we have been dealing
with sound and movement. Recently they
did a production on Mr. Dressup, one com-
mercial and a radio soap opera. We have
done live performances and taped. They
did a story called "I came to the Edge of
the Jungle." They read it over the PT
system and added sound effects. They
have done short and long skits and just lit-
tle five minute put togethers. They have
done mime charades and twenty questions
to pass the time.

My Best Friend
My best friend is my dog. I got him in the
middle of August. He is a Scotch Collie. He
is almost a year old now. His birthday is on
the 26th of May. My dog's name is Lassie. I
like my dog Lassie because he always likes
to play with me and licks my face and it
tickles. My Mom and Dad said that Lassie
could come into the kitchen but I have to
watch Lassie so that he doesn't go into the
livingroom. My dog sometimes jumps up
on me when I come home from school and
when I sit down on the floor he licks my
face. When I get home from school I
sometimes play races with my dog and
Lassie always wins because he can run
really really fast. He can run faster than
our two neighbours dogs. I also like Lassie
because he never bites me because of
course he is my very best friend.

The owl that
was afraid
of thedark•
•
One night two owls were born. The next
day two more owls were born. They all like
to eat, drink, hoot and fly at night, all ex-
cept one owl. He especially did not like to
fly in the dark. He liked to eat, drink, and
hoot but he would not fly at night. When he
was young nobody cared but when he got
older people and owls and other animals
laughed at him. He was embarrassed but
he would not fly at night. Until, onenight
little owl was watching his brothers fly
though a little hole in the hollow tree. Sud-
denly, a Beaver chopped down the tree. He
had to fly! He had flown during the day but
never at night. Everybody was clapping.
People got up and clapped. Other owls and
animals were clapping too and he was a
hero! Little owl was one of the best hunters
that the woods had ever seen.

The Mean Dog
One day I saw a dog and he was going to
bite me. I climbed up the tree and he bit
my leg and I fell. I faked it and he walked
away and I got up then I grabbed his leg
and I put him in a cage and the dog never
bit me again.

Students visit
Saugeen Bluffs
At my visit to the Saugeen Bluffs we
went on a nature walk and we saw how the
Indians and the Pioneers made maple
syrup. Our leader was Mrs. Beard and she
gave us some maple syrup to drink and it
was sweet. The last thng we did was to find
some things or to hear things in the bush. I
found 4 things. I found a piece of wood that
a beaver had chewed on and I heard a
chickadee call and I saw some rabbit
tracks in the snow and I saw a robin up in a
tree. Then we had our lunch and then it
was time to go home on the bus. I had a fun
time at Saugeen Bluffs and wanted to
come again sometime.

Sciencefair
jitters
I was walking in the school on Science
Fair. I wondered what I'd get. First I went
to the library. All the projects were great!
My sister got first. Then I went to the am-
phitheatre. They were good too. I went to
the gym. I saw the Kindergartens on the
stage. I went down the steps. I looked at
the bigger kids projects. There were some
about coke, makeup, electricity, rainbows.
Then I saw Gr. 2. I closed my eyes. Then I
took a deep breath and opened my eyes.
FIRST! First for me at last!

Cross country
team has
good year
The Lucknow Cross Country Team
started training in the fall early in
September. They trained until the races.
We entered two races. The first race was
in Lucknow on Oct. 9th. The senior girls
won the first place pennant. The next race
was at Paisley on Oct. llth. That day, it
was raining and near the end of the race
there is a hill and by the time you make it
up the hill your covered in mud. The Cross
Country coach was Mr. Flanagan. It was
another good year for the Lucknow Cross
Country Team.
