My favourite team
What's blue and white and tries to shoot
black things into a net? It's my favourite
hockey team the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Toronto wears a blue and white uniform,
mostly white at .home and mostly blue
when away.
Right now, on March 31, 1987 the leafs
are one point behind both Chicago and
Minnesota. A win is worth 2 points and a tie
is worth one point.
There are 21 teams in the NHL. They are
divided into four divisions which gives one
division one extra team. Each tear- I plays
80 games per season plus the pray -off
games. The last place team or the last two
teams don't make the play-off's. Therefore
there would be 16 teams left..
The play-off's are when the top team in
points play the last place team and the se-
cond place team plays the third. They play
the best out of seven.
The Leafs might not make the play-off's
because they're behind one point. I hope
Toronto can make the play-off's and
may be in the Stanley Cup. That's very
wishful thinking.

What if?
If the school burnt down it might be
interesting.
For instance, where would I have to go to
school? I would have to make new friends
and meet teachers and I would have a long
bus ride.
But! ! I would have lots of fun around
home because I could drive my ATC and
tour the township. I could see the coun-
tryside and work on the farm.
That is what my life would be like if the
school burnt down!

March book
I like March because it is nutrition
month. You're supposed to eat all good
things. I like when March comes in like a
tion. Then it might go out like a lamb. Did
you know that March winds and April
showers help to bring May flowers.
March bring leprachauns green as the
green grass. You could possibly even find
one. I like leprachauns because if you find
one you should say to it "will you please
take me your pot of gold." I wish I could
catch one. That would be really neat to
have all that money.
March is also cooler. March is also fun
' because I can ride my bike and play ball
and all kinds of other stuff. It really is fun.
Those two are my favorite things in
March.
March is neat because I get March
Break. My brother and I play catch in
March. Catch is sort of like baseball but we
play both.
I put all my hockey stuff away in my
backroom but I still play with it a little bit
in March.
I like March because my best friend's
birthday is in March.
Different birds come back in March like
robins and blue birds.
After March comes April. I like April but
I like March better.

Soccer teams
do well
This year's soccer season began with
many vigorous practices' resulting in tired
team members. But after the final cuts
were made the practices became even
more stenuous to get everyone in shape
and ready to go.
The day of the tournament arrived and
the teams set off with high hopes in mind.
Although the weather did not cooperate
high spirits and. good sportsmanship kept
us alive. As a result the boys were able to
capture the championship and the girls
achieved the award of runner-up.
We are very proud of both our girls and'
boys soccer teams, especially the boys
who continued on to compete in the county
wide tournament. They did very well at the
tournament but only were able to win one
game.
The teams both did extremely well and
I'm sure kept up the good participation
and cooperation record for our school.
Many thanks go to the coaches, Mr.
McKeon and Mrs. Clooney, for a job well
done.

Who do we
appreciate?
I know who I appreciate, my Mother.
Have you ever stopped to think what it
would be like to have to make your own
supper, do your own wash and not have
anybody yell at you?
Now the thoughts of not having anvbodv
yelling at me to get out of the bathroom
sounds good, but I don't know, probably by
the third day I would have a sink full of dir-
ty dishes and a basket full of dirty laundry,
not to mention the dreadful vacuuming,
dusting and bed making chores.
week end I learn to appreciate my Mother
because when she is working it's me who
makes dinner and supper and washes the
dishes.
2,4,6,8, Who do we appreciate? Mothers!
Mothers!
