Porcelain Pomanders
sold to raise funds
Lucknow Central's major fund raiser for
this year, was the selling of porcelain
pomanders.
I'm sure many of the houses in the
Lucknow area had students coming to
their doors, asking for their support.
Thanks to their support the school manag-
ed to raise $5,200 in profit. Some of the
money raised went to the buying of new
school uniforms, trophies and chevrons.
We will be deciding what to spend the rest
of the money on soon.
The Grade eight's were most helpful in
collecting orders and distributing of the
products and the prizes.

Little
buiuiies
Little bunnies hop, hop, hop
They may never stop, stop, stop
They may be there all day, day, day
Now I'll go out to play, play, play.

Appreciate
true friends
I really appreciate friends..Some people
know just when you're feeling blue and
need a good laugh. They know how to cheer
you up. Laughter is the password to hap-
piness. To me a true friend is someone who
I can trust to tell secrets to, you can rely on
to do something you ask them to. A friend
is someone who can be honest and tell the
truth no matter the situation. A true friend
is someone that likes you for what you are
and not what you have.
Everyone needs friends. A couple of
weeks ago, one of my good friends took a
short cut from life. I really appreciated
having friends who cared enough to help
me when I needed them.
There are lots of people out there — so
reach out and grab one cause they'll pro-
bably want to be your friend. Everyone is
special in_their own way — especially you!
A True Friend
For each lengthening evening shadow,
Starlight twinkles up above,
For each unkind word that's spoken,
Someone speaks a word of love.

Computers
visit LOPS
The Icon computers came to Lucknow
Central Public School on September 14,
1986. Each class signed up to use the Icons.
All the classes seemed to enjoy the Icons.
The Icons were located in the am-
phitheatre. On October 16th, all the
students and teach( rs were sad to see the
Icons leave.

A visit to
wonderland
I couldn't wait. We were on our way to
Canada's Wonderland. Everyone kept on
asking 'when are we going to get there?
The car was crowded and it was hot. We
finally got there. The first ride my friend
and I went on was the Ghost Buster. After
that my friend and I went on the Dragon
Fly. It was awesome. Next we went and
spent a whole bunch of money in the ar-
cade. The games were great. The room
was filled with games. When we left the ar-
cade, we went and got lunch. Next we went
and went on a whole bunch of rides. The,
ride I liked the best was the Sky Rider. It
was getting time to leave. I .had to put up
with the ride home. I slept most of the way.
It was a great day.

Lucknow Legion
contests
The Lucknow Legion has been sponsor-
ing Literature Contests in our school for
many years. With their help a contest has
been held every November for Remem-
brance Day. There are three catagories,
one for posters, one for poetry and one for
essays. This is so each and every child
understands and remembers November
11.
During the winter months the Lucknow
students prepare for speeches which the
Legion also cares a great deal about. The
Legion hope that all youth can take part
and enjoy the spirit of speaking. The varie-
ty of topics covers every subject possible.
The Legion not only sponsors contests
but supports many sports and clubs too.
The Legion is a very caring organization
so remember take "Pride in Our Past"
and always have "Faith in Our Future."

Makes dinosaur
for Science Fair
11
My science fair was about dinosaurs and
I liked it. This is how I made it. I got a
piece of bristol board and drew some
dinosaurs like a brontosaures, stegosaurs
and lots of others. Plus I made a book call-
ed "Animals of long ago". In the few last
pages I made some dinosaurs. Before I did
all that I made home made play -dough and
it was so wobbly we had to make it on some
flat paper. That was all right until it got
hard and white so we had to throw it away.
My sister helped me the first time but not
the second time. The night before the
science fair I went to the garage and got a
normal sized box. My mom cut a lid of the
box and got a piece of string and tied it to
my bristol board. Then science fair day
had come and my number was three 0
nine. The night came and I didn't win
nothing. But maybe next year I'll get first,
second or third.

Students
enjoy
snowshoeing
The grade five, six and seven classes of
Lucknow Central Public School went
snowshoeing in the forest of the 6th con. of
Kinloss Township. Jack Mali owns some of
this land.
We were led by Mr. Birchard as well as
some of the teachers at Lucknow School.
Before we went we all had to learn how
to snowshoe so Mr. Birchard taught .us the
tricks. Some still couldn't stand up without
falling back down again, but we'd still like
to thank Mr. Birchard for helping us on a
very fun trip.
