(Alan Rivett photo) Family gathering, concert held to celebrate 125th 1987 marks a• very special year for the Lucknow United Church as they celebrate 125 years together as a congregation. In honor of this important occasion, a family gathering was held in the church sanctuary on Sunday, . April " 12. The organizers of this event, Linda Andrew, Margaret Martin and Deanna Reavie in- vited several members of the congregation to take part in a very entertaining variety concert. The program was opened by the Lucknow Country Dancers under the direction of Isabelle and Bob Shepherd. The children especially enjoyed the puppet play entitled, "Working Together." Several musical numbers were heard throughout the afternoon. Evans, Barb and Paul Helm and Carol and Debbie Atkinson sang two nui hers led by Evans on the guitar and the Young Women's UCW sang several number's led by Ruth Ritchie on the piano. The audience Was favored with two dif- ferent piano selections. A young pianist, Matthew Eadie and the church organist Tony Stickings. Heidi Pritchard, Kelly Stevenson and Angie Boyd displayed their talents as they performed their tap dancing numbers. Both the Junior and Senior Sunday School Classes took part in the program. Wilma Hackett directed the children as they presented some of the songs they sing each week on Sunday mornings. Peter Reavie, Paul Helm, Dale Priestap and Advertising helps plan your budget. CANADIAN ADVERTISING FOUNDATION CHURCH Mark Andrew, members of the senior class, acted out the story of "The Paper Bag Princess" which was enjoyed by all. Another humorous skit was presented by the McFarlane family. Throughout the program, several readings were given. Two poems were read by Dale Priestap and Jordan Andrew. An informative recollection of the past 125 years was recited by Laura Lee Cayley en- titled "Remembering When". The past history was effectively presented by Mrs. Edith Webster who wore a beautiful wedding gown which belonged to the great-aunt of Mrs. Wes Joynt and was worn on her wedding day. The dress is over 125 years old. Following the program, a pot -luck sup- per was enjoyed by all in the fellowship room. It was a lovely afternoon of fun and wor- ship and was thoroghly enjoyed by all those who attended. The congregation is looking ,forward to the ether special events which are planned as they celebrate 125 years of Christian togetherness at the Lucknow United Church.
