( Alan Rivett photo ) Double bridal shower held Doris Hollands was hostess on Saturday for a double bridal shower when about 80 of the Farrell relatives gathered in honour of Janice Elliott and Mary Ellen McGill Timperon, of Ottawa. The room was tastefully decorated with . pink and white streamers and bells, a fan and a parasol, and several bouquets of cheery daffodils. Carol Collins was chairman for the follow- ing program -, an Easter Scramble Contest • by Leanne Farrell, a Bingo game using ar- ticles a bride might pack for her honey- moon, by Helda Ackert, a game identifying wrapped kitchen articles by feeling the package, by Gwyneth Farrell, a reading by Audrey Ferguson entitled, "Perseverance", an organ solo by Christine Collins, a duet, "The Wedding of Jack and Jill," by Stephanie and Jason MacDonald. Doris Hollands was commentator for the parade or original Easter bonnets made and modelled by Marion Cliffe. Joyce Farrell, Norine Turland, Linda Campbell, Margaret Ferguson, Violet. and Jamie McGill and Deanna Pawloski, Evelyn Ellis and Hilda Ackert. Music was provided by Ann Farrell. All joined in singing "Happy Birthday to Lois McGill who was celebrating her bir- thday on Saturday. Debra McGill, sister-in-law of Mary Ellen, gave an informative address in rhyme, telling the brides life story. She was presented with a lamp and an envelope of money. Ruth Anne Robinson read an ap- propriate address, suggesting Janice prac- tice the good qualities of other cousins, whose names began with "J" for example - Jean MacDonald, Joan Storrey and June Elliott. Janice's nieces - Stacy and Becky Elliott and Angie Kelly and nephew, Jason MacDonald presented king-sized sheets, comforter and shams, a lace tablecloth and an envelope of cash. Both brides made fitting replies and Janice introduced bridesmaids Debbie Lowry and Karen Harron, maid of honour Michele McTavish and flowers girl, Becky Elliott. She invited all to her parents' home at any time to see her trouseau. She also in- vited everyone to the reception at the Kin- eardne Davidson Community Centre follow- ing their wedding on May, 2. Kingsbridge ParishTbusy with many activities This past week, as usual, has been a very busy one for both the Kingsbridge parish and school. On Monday, April 6, the Catholic Women's League held its annual, as well as regular monthly meeting, that saw a new executive elected. The meeting open- ed with the League Prayer led by Father Ed Dentinger. A letter expressing gratitude and love was read to the members from the family the league spon- sors in India. A report on the World Day of Prayer held in St. Augustine on Friday, March 6 was given by Betty Lou Dalton. It was at- tended by several parish members as well as members of several area denomina- tional churches. President Kathy Olsen reported on a Day of Recollection held in Blyth on April 1 with Father John Sharpe. She also read a brief report on the ac- tivities of the Brownies and Girl Guides who are sponsored by the League. Clarice Dalton gave a report on Pro -Life activities over the past month and upcoming. Of par- ticular interest was the talk given in St. Peter's Parish Hall, Goderich, on Sunday, 4pril 5 which featured Father Ted Culletom a pro-life activist from Toronto andan editor of The Interim and Reverend Kim Dykstra, pastor of Berea of the Water Lutheran Church in Goderich. Mrs. Dalton also reported that six members of the pro- life groups from Kincardine, Wingham and Goderich met with Murray Elston re the Powell Report. Mrs. Dalton and Mrs. Connie Osborne of Goderich have been invited to speak at the Lutheran Synod in Zurich on April 25. Mark and Diane Lalonde attended the Campaign Life Conference in Niagara Falls this past weekend. In other business, it was announced that the Diocesan Convention will be held in Windsor in May. Two League members from St. Joseph's Kingsbridge will attend. Members of the league are invited to a thankoffering at Ashfield Trinity United Church on Sunday, April 26. Last on the agenda was the election of a new executive for the coming year. The new executive is made up of Kathy Olsen (past -president), Denise Dollen (president), Lourie Dalton (president - CHURCH elect), Milke Hanl (2nd vice-president), Pauline Nicholson (3rd vice-president) , Diane Lalonde (recording secretary), Joanne Menary (corresponding secretary) , and Elsie Dykstra (treasurer) . The meeting ended with a prayer. In other parish news, Father Eel has continued to offer mass in the school gym on weekdays as he has throughout Lent. Wednesday evening, April 8 at 8 p.m. a special Lenten Penitential Service was held in the Church with visiting priests Father John Pluta of Clinton, Father Stan Soltyskik of Wingham and Father Frank Dentingue of the St. Augustine assisting Father Eel with confessions. The school too had a very busy week. On Monday, April 6 the senior girls and boys basketball teams travelled to St. Mary's in Goderich for zone playoffs. The girls put forward a good effort winning one out of three games. The boys experienced more success defeating Wingham 10-9 and Clin- ton 18-7 before being defeated by Goderich 29-20. They now advance to. the Huron - Perth finals in Stratford on April 14. On Tuesday, April 7, grades 3 to 8 travelled into Goderich to view a produc- tion entitled "The Scatterbrain Bookie" presented by the Cascade Theatre Com- pany of Toronto. The students from K to grade 8 are now busy preparing for the Science Fair to be held early in May as well as the 18th an- nual public speaking competition for the children in K to 3 to be held on Friday, May 29 at 1 p.m. Preschoolers are also invited to take part.
