Quilts tied
to begin
Jr. WI meeting
On Tuesday evening, April 14, the
Lucknow Junior Women's Institute met in
the Town Hall basement. Three quilts
were tied to have in readiness in case of a
serious fire in the Lucknow area. Lunch
was then served and business attended to.
Letters were read from Ronald Mac
Donald House and the Bruce County
Public Library System, thanking the In-
stitute for recent donations. An invitation
was received to a discussion about Anorex-
ia Nervosa to be held on May 7 at Howick
Central School. Members contributed
various ideas for programs in the upcom-
ing year. A schedule will be drawn up at
the executive meeting on April 29 at the
home of Deanna Reavie.
A draw was held for a door prize of one
dozen eggs donated by Fran_ Elphick. It
was won by Beth Payne.
Elizabeth Irwin thanked Cecilia Milten-
burg and Anne Inglis for putting together
the quilts. She also thanked members for
their support over the past year and wish-
ed Deanna Reavie well in her upcoming
term as president.
Guest couples
enjoy night of
square dancing
The Huron -Bruce Swingers played host
to 10 guest couples at their regular Thurs-
day evening dance, April 9. Most guests
had little experience with modern square
dancing but after a few words of instruc-
tion from caller Lorne Lockrey, and a few
walk-throughs, everybody was quite com-
fortable dancing through six of the basic
dance figures.
Every other tip throughout the evening
the club dancers would strut their stuff for
their guests. Occasionally the club dancers
demonstrated "Round Dancing" to their
guests. This dance is done by individual
couples dancing "round" the room to
either a two-step or a waltz step. Similar to
square dancing the round dance contains
various combinations of basic figures and
is "cued" by a round dance caller.
A full evening of fun was enjoyed by
members and guests and was followed by
a, delicious lunch. The guests were invited
to return in September for a series of
classes to learn the basics. Anyone in-
terested in attending these classes could
call Don or Helen Gard at 524-7992.

cy for a possible grant. The grant request
was originally made by play school
representative Marilyn Murray at coun-
cil's March meeting.
Housing Survey
Council received a letter from the
Ministry of Housing stating the results of
the housing study done for Lucknow senior
citizens last fall have been completed. The
deadline for applications for non-profit
housing funding through the ministry is
May 15. However, council felt it would be
unable to meet the deadline for application
and reasoned it had "too many things to
do" this year.
