Grade 6 class practises drawing
BROOKSIDE
By Jason Cameron,
Adrian Rau,
Trisha MacDonald,
and Janine Helm
Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 6 class have been
practising drawing to a scale. They have
been enlarging cartoons, and other animal
figures. They found this guided drawing is
easily integrated into the subjects of
mathematics, and social studies.
Kindergarten
On Monday, March 30, Mrs. Cameron's
Kindergarten 1 class made rain people out
of wallpaper. Maybe they would have made
"snow" people! On Wednesday April 1, they
made pussy willow pictures using cotton
balls. They have received many complimen-
tary comments on their April bulletin board
with its umbrellas and raindrops and
figures in wallpaper raincoats.
Grade 2
Miss Jewitt's grade 2 class has been stu-
dying rain and fractions. They had Miss
Jewitt cut up her apple in halves and in four-
ths and eights. For rain studies they read
poems. They would like to wish a Happy Bir-
thday greeting to Sandra Alton on March 31.
The reporters are Caley Moore and Jassi
Dhaliwal.
Grade 8
On Monday some gir de 7 and 8
played basketball at Colborne school. Col-
borne boys came to Brookside to play. All
grade 8 students participated in the Science
Fair on Wednesday and Thursday. Watch
next week for a report on Science Fair. On
Tuesday Ruth Linton came to talk about
Family Life to Grade 8s in Health. On April
2, Shirley Day, an author and illustrator of
books, came to our school.
The Grade 8 reporters are Nicole Mid-
delkamp and Debbie Nivins.
Grade 1-2 Room 1
Mrs. Young's grade 1-2 class is working on
a health booklet. They talked about all kinds
of things that are good for us! Devon has 'a
Berenstein Bear book about healthful foods.
On Friday, March 27, the class went to
Robinson's Sugar Bush. They really enjoyed
their trip. This week's All About Me is Tam-
my Middelkamp.
Grade 4-5
Mr. Culp's grade 4-5 class is studying
transformers in science. Mr. Culp brought
in a train track and Duncan Mowbray, last one said, "Now do numbers one and two

Grade 3 Room 10
In Grade 3, the students have been doing
an Easter booklet. They are also learning to
do multiplication. They had a test about
Canada, after we finished our Canadian
research and read the story about the Indian
Cinderella who married Strong Wind.
The Grade 3 reporters are Jennifer Moir
and Claire Weir.
Grade 4 Room 9
Birthday congratulations to Eric Andrew
on March 31. The class would like to say
thank you to Mrs. Webster and Mrs.
Logtenberg for helping us with Payday,
Mrs. Scott and her Grade 4 students correct-
ly predicted that since March came in like a
lamb it would go out like a lion. On April 1
Grade 4 is helping our French teacher, Mr.
Hooftman, with the bulletin board by the
library.
The bulletin board, called Spring, is a
kaleidoscope of colours.
On April 1 school was cancelled until 9
a.m. (April Fool). Colin Hogan put a sticky
rubber hand on Mrs. Scott's- chair as an
April Fool's joke.
A few days ago Tenille Cranston fell down
the stairs and sprained and bruised her
ankle very badly. She had to go to Emergen-
cy at the hospital and is now getting around
on crutches. On March 31, Jenean Todd ac-
cidentally got a bad scrape on her hand
when she was at the door when the piano
was being wheeled in.
On April 1, Mrs. Scott gave us a com-
prehension and reading test, telling the
class they only had four minutes to do it. She
told the students to read the whole thing
before they did anything but most of the
class just started answering the questions.
There were about 18 questions and the very
