A total of $300 was raised for the chairlift at the home for seniors. NOG 2H0 Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, April 8, 1987—Page 7 St. Helens WI holds annual meeting at hall recently The annual meeting of the St. Helen's Women's Institute was held on April 2 at 12:30 p.m. in the Hall, beginning with a potluck lunch. After the Opening Ode and Mary Stewart Collect, the minutes of the last meeting were read and the financial report for 1986-87 was given by the secretary treasurer, Muriel Moffat. The reports of standing committees were read by the convenors and will be sent on to the District. The executive meeting to plan for the District Annual will be held on April 6 in Londesboro. A craft article for the 90th an- niversary celebrations in North Bay, made by Elaine Errington, is to be taken to the Londesboro meeting. Plans for the Sunshine Sister Banquet on April 13 have been finalized. Requests to cater to two banquets, one in April and one in May, were accepted. Shoot parties will continue on until at least until the end of April. Projects for the year for the upkeep of the hall include finishing the siding on the east, floor and wall covering for the. washrooms and the purchase of one or two ceiling fans for the main room. As April is Cancer month, Cancer kits were given to those volunteering to can- vass St. Helen's and surrounding area. The nominating committee presented their report of officers for 1987-88 with the following results: President - Mrs. Leroy Rintoul, Secretary -Treasurer - Mrs. Lloyd Moffat, Vice President - Mrs. Keith Tyler, Assistant Secretary - Mrs. Russell Phillips, Program Co-ordinator - Mrs. Jim Aitchison, District Director - Mrs. John Strutton, Alternate Director - Mrs. Harold Cooper. Auditors are Miss Isobel Miller and Mrs. Robert Markham. Curators will be Mrs. Janet McPherson, Mrs. Gordon Lyons and Mrs. Ernest Gaunt. Branch Directors are Mrs. Doris Mewhinney, Mrs. Keith Tyler and Mrs. Allan Cranston. Pianist is Mrs. Bruce Raynard. Pennies for Friendship. will be attended to by Mrs. Jim Aitchison. The election chairman then conducted the installation ceremony. The program concluded with a reading by Irene Markham "Confessions of a Non - cook". Happy birthday was sung for our guest Michael MacGillivray and members Janet McPherson and Isabel Gaunt. Couple buys Brooks farm Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cunningham, T T Rose and Carolyn moved to the Lucknow IL.S N area from Ailsa Craig on March 31. They have purchased the farm of Gordon TT Brooks west of Lucknow, the former Al Ir- El by'Gera :RU Schiossef win farm. Mr. and Mrs. Rennie Delbergue and Maurice have returned home after atten- ding their son Pte. Ronald Delbergue's graduation and parade at Wainright, . Alberta at the PPCL Battle School on March 27. A social evening was held at the Kinloss Public School last Saturday for the Atom hockey team. A smorgasbord lunch was served to the players and parents: Chad Hiller of Whitechurch received the Allan Maclntyre trophy presented by Nancy Maclntyre for the Most Improved Player. We wish better health to a number of local people who are in the hospital. 4 Montgomery Motors has bought ' the former Elliott property in the west end of the village. Phil Jerome is currently leas- ing the seed cleaning business. Mark Gunter has purchased the Bert Alton residence on Ludgard Street. He has recently moved in to his new home.
