She was the former Grace Thompson of Concession 10 and also. sympathy to sisters-in-law Ellen, Agnes and Cora Thompson. The burial took place at Greenhill Cemetery in Lucknow on Sunday afternoon. The Women's Institute social evening and card party was held on Monday even- ing at the hall. Six tables were in play with high scores going to Mrs. ( Leo) Imelda Murray and Mr. Jack Scott. Lucky prize winners were Mrs. Reta Irwin, and Mr. Reg Godfrey. Edna and May Boyle had their Church Board of management at their home on Tuesday evening and the Holyrood WI auditors and secretary on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Mary Stewart of Millarton visited with Mr. and Mrs. Tom McDonald. Mrs. Frank Maulden was a dinner guest at the same home. Holyrood WI Mrs. Harold Smith was hostess for the annual meeting of the Holyrood Women's Institute. She welcomed everyone and the Ode was sung and the Mary Stewart Collect was repeated in, unison. The roll all was the payment of fees. Mrs. Douglas McEwan read the minutes of the March meeting and gave the finan- cial statement and read the communica- tions and also a thank you. There was special thanks to those who quilted a lovely quilt for Participation Lodge. A list of articles was read for the play school which is held each Tuesday for pre- school children and they will be catering to the Lions Club. She explained some changes which will be made in the Institute both in the District and the local branches. The District An- nual meeting will be held at Belmore on May 19 and Holyrood will be in charge of the "In Memoriam". A special offering was taken for pennies for friendship. This is the International year of shelter for the homeless. The minutes and financial statement of the last Annual Meeting were read by the secretary followed by the reports of the standing committees: Agriculture and Canadian Industries - Mrs. Ellwood Elliott; Family and consumers affairs - Mrs. William MacPherson; Education and Cultural Activities - Mrs. Lloyd Johnston; Resolutions - Mrs. Weir Eckenswiller; Public Relations officer - Edna Boyle; and President's Summary - Mrs. Harold Smith. Mrs. Boyle conducted the installation of the following offieers: past president and co-ordinator - Mrs. Charles (Joan) Mur- ray ; urray; 1st vice-president - Mrs. William ( Lorraine) MacPherson; 2nd vice- president - Mrs. Tom ( Agnes) Hodgins; secretary -treasurer Mrs. Douglas 1 Charlene) McEwan; assistant secretary treasurer - Mrs. Leo (Imelda) Murray; public relations officer - Edna Boyle; District Director - Mrs. Charles (Joan ) Murray; Assistant District Director - Mrs. Lorne (Doris) Eadie; Curators - Mrs. Tom ( Agnes) Hodgins and Mrs. Frank (Bessie ) Maulden; Auditors - May Boyle and Mrs. Ellwood (Wilma) Elliott; Branch Direc- tors - Mrs. Alex (Myrtle) Percy, Mrs. John ( Mary) Scott and May Boyle; Pianist - Ed- na Boyle; Cheerio Committee - concession 8 and 10 Mrs. Lloyd (Betty) Johnston, con- cession 12 and 14 Mrs. Alex (Myrtle) Per- cy; and Resolutions - Mrs. Weir (Grace) Eckenswiller. A questionnaire was filled in to assist in the program planning for the coming year, and canvassers were appointed for the Cancer Society. Mrs. John Scott had the program and read "A tribute to the Months of the Year." May Boyle gave a reading "The good old days" and also conducted a quiz and led in singing a fun song. Mrs. William McPherson gave an "Institute Alphabet" and Mrs. Leo Murray -gave a reading. Mrs. John Scott conducted a contest and Mrs. Weir Eckenswiller gave "An Easter reading" contest prizes, Mrs. Ellwood Elliott and Mrs. Charles Murray. Mrs. Leo Murray gave the courtesies and the meeting closed with 0 Canada and Grace, and delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Porter and girls from Edmonton and Mrs. Doreen Porter of Walkerton visited during the week with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Haldenby and family. Parents and friends from here attended the Science Fair at the Lucknow Public School on Thursday evening. Congratula- tions to all those who participated and won prizes Congratulations to Brad Murray son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Murray who won the Stuart Mann Memorial Trophy top goal scorer award in Lucknow Minor hockey for the fifth time. Good going Brad.* Mr. and Mrs. Glen Haldenby and Sara returned home after a nice holiday at Cochrane with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Jansen and their family there. They also travelled to McKeller where they visited with Dr. and Mrs. Fred Haldenby. Mrs. Bill Burt had the Silver Lake Women's Institute at her home on Wednes- day evening. Mr. and Mrs. Morley Bushell of Wingham visited on Sunday with Mrs. John Barr. Mrs. Tom McDonald was at Paisley with her sister Mrs. Essie Bloomfield who isn't enjo.ying the best of health. Mrs. Gertrude Walsh and Mrs. Miller Hartwick of Kincardine visited on Friday with Mrs, Frank Maulden. Local couple welcomes grandchild Congratulations to Gord and Maria Hardcastle of London on their chosen 17 -month-old daughter Charlene. Another grandchild for Dennis and Irene Dalton. Glenn Ferguson and his children Joan, Glenn Jr. and Nathan went to Delhi for the weekend to visit with Glenn's mother Ellie. We wish Dennis Dalton a speedy recovery as he is a patient in Goderich hospital.
