Cancer canvass
kicks off with
serviette sale
The Cancer Society of Lucknow will be
selling Daffodil Serviettes at Hair Crea-
tions on Lucknow's main street on Friday,
April 3 from 9 to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturday
April 4 from 9 until 12 noon.
This is the kick-off for the Cancer Can-
vass which takes place during the month of
April.
This is the first years for the serviettes
to be sold as they are taking the place of
the daffodils which were formerly sold:
The switch took place because of the poor
quality of the flowers.
These serviettes will be in packages of 18
and will be sold at a price of $1.50. The
local Girl Guides meet on Thursday even-
ings and this week will be working on their
"Service to ther Community" badge by
packaging these serviettes.
It's just great that the young people can
get involved with the Cancer Society. The
girls will also help in the selling after
school on Friday and on Saturday
morning.

elsewhere.
Higher child tax credits, and higher
credits for spouses caring for children at
home. •
Joint income tax if the family chooses,
which would mean a lower rate for the one -
income family. At present husbands and
wives who are both working can take ad-
vantage of this type of saving, while one -
income families cannot.
Tax deductions for child care in the
home as well as outside the home.
We hope that your readers will tell
governments that they do not want to pay a
huge tax increase for a universal day care
program which would make everyone pay
for child care for affluent double income
families, and by forcing mothers to work
to pay these taxes, would deprive children
of their right to be cared for by their own
mothers.
Yours sincerely,
Lynn Schime, President
