Atom B's compete at tourney
The Lucknow Atom B's ended their 1987
hockey season with a tournament hosted
by Ripley on Saturday, March 14.
Belmore 5 Lucknow 2
The boys played their first game against
a very strong Belmore team. Belmore
jumped into the lead in the first period
with Lucknow eventually tieing the score
1-1 before the end of the period.
However, Belmore scored to quick goals
in the second period to take a 3-1 lead into
the third period. The boys played with in-
tensity in the last period , but to no avail.
the final outcome was Belmore 5 Lucknow
2.
Scoring for Lucknow was Scott Rintoul
from Nathan Daer and Blair Bieman from
Jeremy O'Neill and Dennis Hogan.
Lucknow 6 Ripley 5
The boys were placed in the consolation
division to play against the host Ripley
squad. The lads made up their minds to
win this game and with good, hard, fast
skating, the boys went on to earn an ex-
citing 6-5 win.
Scoring for Lucknow were Jeremy
Brindley with two goals and one assist,
Scott Rintoul with two goals and two
assists, Nathan Daer with three assists,
Dennis Hogan and Colin Humphrey with
one goal each and Dan Jones with one
assist.
This good effort advanced the boys into
the consolation final against Mildmay.
Mildmay 7 Lucknow 2
The boys started out slow in this game
and found themselves with their backs to
the wall with Mildmay winning 5-0 after
two periods.
Lucknow was not going to quit. They
received their first goal at 8:49 in the third
from Nathan Daer assisted by Joe Dalton.
Less than a minute later, the boys scored
again, this time by Colin Humphrey
assisted by Dennis Hogan.
The final outcome was an uneven 7-2 win
for the bad guys.
Good tournament, boys! Recognition
should also go to Dean Tiffin who played in
the net for the whole tournament. Also to
Tammy Hogan who, by the way, is a hard -
playing female on the team.
