(Alan Rivett photo) Lucknow Sentinel, Wednesday, March 11, 1987—Page 19 Victor Emerson out of hospital Victor Emerson has returned to Bray Lodge in Wingham last Wednesday after a nine day stay in the Wingham hospital. Mr, and Mrs. Melvin Webster of Clinton were Sunday callers with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson. Mrs. Doris Wilkins, Glenna and Suzie of Whitechurch were Saturday callers on Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson. Mr. and Mrs. Angus Falconer of Whitechurch visited with Mr. and Mrs. Hector Purdon of Strathroy recently. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Falconer, Tony, Tim and Amy of Goderich spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Angus Falconer of Whitechurch. Mrs. Colleen MacMillan of Sarnia and Mrs. Isabel Tiffin of Lucknow visited on Thursday with Mrs. Jean Tiffin of Whitechurch. Neil, Helen, Stephen, Scott and Stuart Rintoul spent Sunday with Mrs. Norma Rintoul. Doreen Rintoul is a patient at University Hospital in London. The World Day of Prayer was held at the United Church with Mrs. Cliff Laidlaw as the guest speaker. Coffee and cookies were served to end the afternoon. Gordon Rintoul visited at the home of his son Leroy Rintoul while his wife is in University Hospital in London. The Whitechurch WI meeting will be held at the home of Merle Wilson on Wednesday. 4 -Hers learn many new skills By Matthew Sproul The Surviving With Style club got off to a great start for Dungannon 1. Joanne Sproul and Laurie Pentland are the leaders joined by Jean McWhinney as the youth leader along with 15 members. The executive of the group is as follows: President - Tim McNee; Vice -President - Karen Bakker; Treasurer - Alison Clark; Press Reporter - Matthew -Sproul; and the secretary's position, is a rotating job. Meeting 1 The first meeting was held on February 3 with all the mothers invited to attend and get in on the action of the proper ways to use a plunger, toilet maintenance and what to do when you blow fuses and trip circuit breakers. The meeting closed with the 4-H motto. Everyone enjoyed refreshments and donuts. Meeting 2 The second meeting opened with the 4-H Pledge. The minutes were read and. the rollcall was "What is your favorite `eaten away from home' food". -The 1.5 members present discussed different menus accor- ding to nutritional balance; Is it appeal- ing? Is it satisfying? And different methods of being economical. The members then made pizza, cheesy dip and smooth, creamy pudding which everyone enjoyed after skating. Meeting 3 Thethird meeting was held at Joanne Sproul's on March 2. The topic being The Choice Is Yours. Tim McNee opened the meeting with the 4-H Pledge, the minutes of meeting two and the treasurer's report. Twelve members answered the rollcall of "Tell one discussion you made today". A short discussion on a club name and the members arrived at "Short Circuits". Laurie Pentland led a discussion on values with an activity called "If I could I would...". The members chose an unfinish- ed statement and had to complete it. Jean McWhinney led an activity were the members had three groups of four and each group were given the same supplies ( styrofoam cups, pins, straws, and papers) and asked to build something. There were a great variety of items with many explanations. A discussion on spending money follow- ed - things we need and things we don't need. Before buying something, ask yourself, do I need it? Can I afford it? And, how much do I know about this product? The next meeting will be held at Mat- . thew Sproul's on March 16 and each member is to bring an article of clothing that needs. some repair. The meeting dos- ed with the 4-H Motto.
