(Alan Rivett photo) St.Helens WI holds dessert meeting The March meeting of the St. Helen's Women's Institute was held on Thursday, March 5. As it was a dessert' meeting, it began with the Institute Grace and the hostesses Lila Rintoul and Edith Cooper served tea and strawberry pie. In the absence of the president, the meeting was chaired by the vice-president Lila Rintoul. Due . to the illness of the secretary -treasurer Murial Moffat, Edith Cooper was appointed to take the minutes of this meeting. For the rollcall on "Family Tradition", members gave varied family observances at Christmas and Easter. It was reported by the group in charge that the shoot parties have begn well - attended and will continue every two weeks until later in the spring. .Motions were passed to donate $25 to the Lucknow Agricultural Society for the fall fair and to rent the hall for a farming meeting on March .12. It was decided to have more large tables made suitable for banquets. The date for the Sunshine Sister Banquet - the 25th anniversary - was tentatively set for April 13 depending on the caterer. The minutes of yesteryear 1967 were read by Lila Rintoul. Norma Raynard gave the topic - Easter. It was most thoughtfully prepared, taking us from the gloom and despair of Good Friday to the joy and happiness of Easter and a new beginning associated with the coming of • spring. She also reminded the members of the Easter Seal campaign and the wonder- ful ways in which crippled children can be helped through donations. Isabel Gaunt read a selection from Giselle Ireland's "Hog Wild". Lila Rintoul conducted a game in which each person was given a different length of thread and then told a personal experience or family story while winding the thread around a finger. The story lasted as long as the thread took to wind up. There was a display of crafts made by the members - quilts,knitted sweaters, afghans, socks and macrame plant hangers.
