A Poem
Full many a race is lost,
Ere ever a step was run,
And many a coward fails.,
Ere ever his work begins.
Think big - a your depths will grow,
Think small - and you'll fall behind,
Think that you can and you will
it's all in the state of your mind!
New season at Day Centre
By Pam Williams
Now that the "ides" of March is almost
upon us, it's good to know that spring is
just around the corner.
The Day Centre for the Homebound is
eagerly preparing for the new season.
We're looking ahead to the Belmore Maple
syrup Festival, Blyth Festival plays, and
we even plan to attend a Stratford, Festival
play this year. The day trips are quite
popular but we also have activities at the
centre. Wingham Armoury ). Guest
speakers, exercises, singing, foot clinics,
crafts, recreational games, and a full
course noon meal are part of the regular
day centre program.
March is nutrition month so we'll try to
feature some healthy programs by inviting
Cathy .Thompson, nutritionist with the
Huron County Health Unit to be our guest
speaker on March 19. Sharon Creighton the
Lucknow and Area Public Health Nurse
will be our guest speaker on Wednesday
March 18th.
We also plan to have a special entertain-
ment afternoon of Irish frolicking on St.
Patrick's Day.
Bowling will be the sport of the week of
March 23 -27th. You can be a part of the au-
dience or be a participant and you'll aro-

On Tuesday, March 31, the group will be
treking to the Maple Keys Sugar Bush and
participating in a tour to see the various
methods of maple syrup production. The
Maitland Valley Conservation Authority
maintains the bush and we'll also have a
chance to purchase some maple syrup and
sugar.
Don't forget our. fund raising dance at
the Belmore Community Centre on Satur-

"The Entertainers" a popular band from
the Fergus area.

4-H clubs discuss fuse. boxes
• from page 13
was held on February 3, 1987 at the home
of Mrs. Suzanne Andrews.
The meeting was called to order by the
club's new president Warren Andrew.
Everyone repeated the 4-H Pledge and
tried to think of a name for the club. It was
decided that each member would bring a
name to the next meeting.
The meeting started with the members
talking about fuseboxes. Everyone went to
the basement to look at the fusebox.
The third meeting of the Trinity Trend
Setters was held on February 16 at the
home of Mrs. Suzanne Andrew. Four
members and the tw`o leaders attended.
The rollcall and the home activities were
taken up.
First, the members learned how to use
their money. Then, the members talked
about what they look for in a friend. Crafts
were made and refreshments were served,
,...°to close the meeting.
The next meeting will be held at the
home of Mrs. Suzanne Andrew.
By April Brindley and Connie Husk
On Monday, February 23 Mr. Andy
Burgess of the Kincardine OPP Detach-
ment came to the Silver Lake 4-H Club
meeting at the Kinloss Community Centre
as their special gt'Pst.
Each member invited a woman from the
institute along with their mother to hear
his presentation.
Jill Campbell welcomed Mr. Burgess,
He spoke on the Neighborhood Watch Pro-
gram and told about marking your proper-
ty with special engravers. Many questions
Were . asked. during the course of the
presentation. There were many pamphlets
available to take home and a sheet to fill
out if you would like a special number to
make your property.
After Mr. Burgess's interesting presen-
tation, April Brindley thanked him and
presneted him with a gift from the club
showing their appreciation.
Lunch was served with members bring-
ing delicious squares and the leaders pro-
vided rich chocolate milk, along with cof-
fee and tea which everyone enjoyed.
Everyone will agree that it was a fun and
a learning -filled evening.

Port Albert Fix -Its . 4-11 Club held their
third meeting on Feb. 23 at Rhonda
Dickson's with 17 members present. They
started with the 4-H Pledge, minutes, roll
call, and chose a club, name. Several menus
for breakfast, lunch or dinner were
distributed and members made comments
on them and suggestions for improvement.
Marcia Boak led a discussion on Values,
Resources, Standards, and Goals. For an
activity. called "If I Could,. I Would",
members chose an unfinished statement
and had to complete it. Some examples
were, "People my age seem..." or "People
can hurt my feelings most by...".
For the next activities, junior members
formed pairs, and each pair used the same
supplies (styrofoam cup, pins, straws, and
paper) to build' something'. There was a
great variety of results. Senior members ex-
ainined a story "The Girl, and the Sailor"
and used their own values and goals to rank
the characters.
We discussed "Spending your Money".
People's purchases generally fall into two
categories, "things we need". or "things we
want". Before making a purchase ask
yourself, "Do I need it? Can I afford it? How
much do I know about this product?"
Next meeting is March 23 at Jeff
Weaver's.
The second meeting of the Kingsbridge
Know It All's was held at the home of
Karla Hogan on February 24. All the
members were present.
At the meeting, the members learned
how to make quick, but delicious meals.
All the members helped to make a recipe,
and also worked on their books. After the
meeting was completed, all the members
enjoyed the Cheesy Dip, Smooth and
Creamy Pudding, and Magic Mocha Mix,
which all the members enjoyed very
much.
