HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Lucknow Sentinel, 1987-03-04, Page 7Ladies` attend birthday party at Bruce Lea Haven OU Wednesday was such a glorious February 25 for ladies to journey to Bruce Lea Haven to attend a lovely social time and 80th birthday dinner for Mrs. Grace Graham. Mrs. Dorla Cassidy of Teeswater as hostess greated everyone on arrival and Grace was so happy to see everyone. She had her pretty American beauty dress on with a lovely corsage. After a lit- tle chit -cat, 13 sat down to a delicious meal. Those attending were Grace and her sister Dorothy Thompson, Mrs. Cora Barr and Winnifred Percy I cousins 1, Edna and May Boyle, Mrs. Kathleen Cassidy and Mrs. Belle Graham ( sisters-in-law of Grace ), Mrs. Rena Forster, Mrs. Olive Needham, Mrs. Bessie Maulden, Mrs. Ber- nice Burt and Mrs. Dorla Cassidy. Edna Boyle said the blessing and all did justice to a delicious meal. Dorla had brought a lovely cake and all sang happy birthday before the cake and ice-crearn were served. The table was centered with a lovely floral arrangement of yellow and white mums. Everyone was then invited to the lounge, where May Boyle had arranged, on re- quest of the hostess, thoughts on good friends, the joy of birthdays and a time of "do you remember Grace?" May told of some funny times when Grace taught school at Kinlough S.S. No. 2 and lived with Edna and May and their parents each winter. All sang Thank you Lord for this day. by May Boyte Hot chocolate and delicious squares were served before the farewells had to be said. Grace was just overwhelmed with the lovely surprise clay and her gifts which Dorla helped her open. Our wish was "May the Dear Lord bless and keep you Grace". Mrs. Elizabeth Fair and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott of Ripley visited on Thursday evening with Mrs. Frank Maulden and Mrs. Arthur Phillips here. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hal.denby went to Florida for a holiday. Congratulations to Mr. Joseph Guest who on Thursday, February 27 celebrated his 97th birthday with members of his family enjoying birthday cake and ice- cream at Bruce Lea Haven, Walkerton. Mr: and Mrs. Tom McDonald celebrated Tom's birthday at Kincardine with Mr. and Mrs. Mac McDonald and Jeffrey and also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Clare BuSheil at Kingarf and Mr. and Mrs. Don Bushell at Kinloss on Sunday. Remember -the World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 6, at the Kinlough Presbyterian Church for this area. We will be offering prayer with more than 170 countries in the world. Come and worship together. Brookside preparing for concert • from page 6 April 29, at 8 p.m. will be an all -school revue called, "Music Moves Me". The school's three choirs will be performing as well as those classes which were not in- cluded in the Christmas show. Table Tennis The school has finally completed the table tennis tournament.
