Book may mark fair's birthday
On Feb. 17, 1987 - on Tuesday afternoon
last week at one o'clock, a group of 14 people
from Ripley and Huron met in the township
hall for a couple of hours to discuss a
proposition.
Gathered for the occasion were Evelyn
Elliott of Pine River and 8th west, Gwen
Harriston of Bethel and 10th west, Wilma
Sutton of Purple Grove (10th east) and
- Ripley, Margery MacDonald, Katherine
Collins, Marjorie Thompson, Reta Irwin,
Florence Kirkpatrick, Gladys Arnold - a
total of nine ladies also John W. Scott, Don
McCosh, Jim Brook, Elden Lowry of Lake
Shore Road between 10th and 8th and Ab
Wylds for a total of 14 people. Margery Mac-
Donald, the new 1987 president of the lady
directors, had phoned them the week before
and when they assembled she asked past
president Wilma Sutton to explain the
purpose.
Well, last year (1986) the lady directors
had a fine cook book printed and with work
on their part it was a success. Now with next
year 1988 coming up, they are thinking
about a book to mark the 125th anniversary
of the Ripley Huron Fall Fair.
Next Wilma called on Gwen Harrison who
had the experience of organizing, printing,
and selling the Ripley Huron Reunion book
in 1985. With the help of a fair book put out in
this District 10 in this past year, Gwen ex-
plained in detail the work to be done. She did
an excellent job.
The ladies here are great workers and we
feel that there are more who will help if told
what is to be done.
Visited from Kincardine -
Last Thursday evening Feb. 19th, Elmer
and Gladys Wylds of Broadway were down
from Kincardine' for a couple of hours
visiting.
