WMS begins Asian studies
The Kinlough WMS met at the home of
Mrs. Tom McDonald on Wednesday after-
noon. Mrs. Bert Thompson presided and
opened with a thought on love and a
prayer.
Ten ladies answered the rollcall with a
love Scripture verse followed by a hymn.
All repeated the Purpose.
The business was dealt with as well as
the plans for the World Day of Prayer.
Mrs. Don Reid led the Devotions from
Ephesians, "Sit, rock, stand in Christ, put
on the whole armour of God." She asked
the question, What do we really want in
life? We want to become more like Christ
in our daily work and submit to Christ for
guidance and direction daily, according to
the God's will.
Mrs. Don Robertson introduced the new
Study Book, Crossroads in Asia. There are
five different countries, namely, India,
Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri
Lanka. She said, in Toronto, there are
100,000 natives from India, Pakistan, and
Bangladesh. In India, 30 per cent is spent
on defence alone. Bangladesh is one of the
three poorest nations in the world. Nepal
still depends on England for financial sup-
port. Only four per cent of Indians are
Christians.
A hymn and prayer closed the meeting.
