4 -Hers learn household hints

The first meeting of the Donnybrook 4-H
club. Surviving with Style, was held at the
home of the leader, June Robinson on
February 14 with severs members
attending.
The meeting opened with the 4-H Pledge
followed by the election of officers. Kevin
Hardy is president, Renay Taylor vice-
president, and Teresa Jefferson, press
reporter.
Bill Robinson demonstrated how to
change a plug, along with facts about dif-
ferent fuses and how they are used. The
members also discussed minor plumbing
problems.
Also discussed was what to do when
alone, including how to answer the door
and phone and how to keep busy.
The next meeting will be held on
February 16 at June Robinson's home at 4
o.m.

The first meeting of the Kingsbridge 4-H
club was held at the home of Delores Van
Osch on February 17 with seven members
present.
For this club, Surviving With Style, the
leaders are Delores Van Osch and Karla
Hogan while the Junior Leader is Colleen
Van Osch.
The election of officers was held. The
results are: President - Tom Hogan; Vice -
President - Brenda Van Osch; Secretary -
Treasurer - Sandra Van Osch and' Press
Reporter - Sharon Van Osch.
The members discussed what to do if you
smell smoke and, what to do if s stranger
comes to your door. Also taught to the
members was how to change a --fuse:

The Dungannon II "Surviving With
Style" club met on Tuesday, February 10
at the home of Sally Wright with nine
members present.
The group started their second meeting
with the 4-H Pledge and the members
reviewed their notebooks. They talked
about the necessary foods to eat and look-
ed at recipe books beforq starting to
prepare the meals. When the food was
ready to eat, everyone sampled the
cookies, a nutritious apple drink, and some
meat and vegetables. They were quite
good.
While the members ate, they talked
about Canada's food guide and how many
calories they eat in their food every day.
The members then started the third
meeting. They talked about spending
money wisely, what kinds of common in-
terests they have, and how to meet new
friends.

On Feb. 16, the Port Albert 4-H Club held
its second meeting at Stephanie and Duane
Durnin's home. President, Wendy Milten-
burg opened with the 4-H Pledge and
minutes of the last meeting. Eighteen
members answered the roll call - "What is
your favourite meal eaten away from
home?" Stephanie demonstrated measures
for cooking, and how to use them. The
members were split into groups to examine
menus, discuss tips for eating economically
and nutritiously, and prepare a meal con-
sisting of a 1=2-3-4 supper dish, salad, a hot
apple drink, and"cookies. The home assign-
ment is to prepare and serve a complete
meal.
The second meeting of .the Trinity 4-H
Club was held on February 11 at the home
of Mrs. Shirley Hunter. All members were
in attendance. The rollcall andthe home
activities -'were taken up.
The members discussed the nutrient
value and the calorie=€ontent of --a variety
of foods. They also talked about Canada's
Food Guide and whether the members
were receiving the correct amount of
nutrients. Everyone then made pizza,
grilled cheese with apple, and some
pudding.
The next meeting will be on February 16
at Suzanne Andrew's home..
