housing in your
community
Get your apphcation

Meeting Ontario's
housing needs.
Applications are being invited for the de-
velopment of 6,700 new non-profit housing
units across Ontario. Construction on these
units willbegin in 1988.
Groups should start planning their
proposals now to meet preliminary appli-
cation deadlines early this coming Spring.
The Government of Canada through
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation,
and the Province of Ontario through
the Ministry of Housing, will be cost-sharing
assistance directed to needy •households.
Market units will be fully funded by the
Province of Ontario.
The program is open to all municipal
non-profit, private non-profit and non-
profit co-operative organizations.
Local community organizations wish-
ing to sponsor non-profit housing projects
can apply for government grants to cover
the costs of establishing non-profit housing
corporations.
Affordable housing
for those in need.
This program helps non-profit agencies
to create affordable,housing for households
in need of housing assistance.These include
families, senior citizens or physically,
developmentally and psychiatrically handi-
capped persons able to live independently.
For project proposals in this category,
completed preliminary applications must
be submitted by Friday, May 15,1987,
to be considered for the 1988 allocations.
Housing for
low-income singles.
Some of the units will ie speed illy
targetted to low-income singles.
Organizations interestedin sponsor-
ing such projects must submit their
preliminary applications by May 15, 1987
Housingth
support services.
A portion of the units will be set aside for
groups interested in developing housing
for people with support service needs.
These include physically, developmentally
or psychiatrically handicapped persons,
the frail elderly, battered women and other
socially disadvantaged persons. . -
Groups interested in developing this
type of housing are invited to special orienta-
tion sessions - to be held in February at each
Regional Office of the Ministry of Housing.
Preliminary applications indicating
an intent to develop a housing project
with support services are to be submitted
by March 31, 1987 Eligibility depends
on the degree and nature of care provided.

Atoms blast
Blyth 7-1
The Lucknow Atom A's hosted Blyth. last
Tuesday night and came up with a big ef-
fort, winning by a score of 7-1.

At the end of the first period, the score
was 1-0 with a goal by Darryl Gibson,
assisted by Clint Murray. Lucknow picked
up three more in the second period, scored
by Matt Drennan from Clint Murray and
ChadHiller, Matt Drenr>`an from Clint Mur-
ray and Chris DeJong, and Clint Murray
from Matt Drerinan and Chris DeJong.
Three more goals were tallied in the
third period, with Danny Kerr getting one
from Steven Adams, Shawn Belmore with
one from Chris DeJong and Darryl Gibson
and Scott Rintoul scoring from from
Shawn Belmore and Chris DeJong. Blyth
picked up one,goal near the ned of the third
period.
The " Atoms start playoffs against
Teeswater this week with a home game on
Thursday night at 7 p.m. Good luck, boys!

for the men went to Bill Uuldricks with a
232 with the second high going to Ian
Dougherty at 213 and third to Leonard
MacDonald with a 211.
The ladies' high single was recorde by
Caroline Snowden with a 214 and a 349 dou-
ble. Good bowling, Caroline. Isobel Tiffin
bowled a 185 single followed closely by
Ruth Mathers with a 181.
The high doubles for the men were
Leonard MacDonald, 383; Bill Uuldricks,
368; Ian Dougherty, 365 and Dave Moffat,
361.
The high doubles for the ladies were
Fern MacDonald, 347; Isabel Tiffin, 331;
Marie Park, 327 and Ruth Mathers, 326.

single and double went to Ian Dougherty
with 210 and 197 singles and a 407 double.
Bill Purdon was second with 199 and 340
with the third high single going to Harold
Campbell with 190 while ' Leonard Mac-
Donald had a 334 double.
Fern MacDonald rolled 239 and 208
singles for a 447 double while Marie Park
had a 226 single and 371 double to take se-
cond place. Jean Phillips was close behind
with a 205 single and a 256 double.
