(Shelley McPhee Haist photo) Pupils making gingerbread by Karen Miller This week the Kindergartens had a lot of fun doing Gingerbread men activities. The best part was making and eating them. Grade 1 invited them to a snow party and they had a lot of fun. Grade 1 also had a great time at their snow party. They played snow snake, dog sled races, hill crawl and more. Thanks goes to the mothers and teachers who helped and also for the delicious cookies made by the parents. The Grade 2's have been working on the theme of "Giants" in their reading pro- gram. Todd Thomas has a giant even taller than Mrs. Black. They would like to thank. the Grade 1's for inviting them to their snow party. They had a great time. Grade 3 had a busy week learning about fractions, one of the Grade 8's arch enemies, and changing them into decimals. They also studie Canada's beautiful Provincial Emblems. m. On Thursday they were invited to the Grade 1 snow party. Thank you Grade 1 for a super time. Grade 4 worked very hard and had a busy week. They continued working on their speeches and had excellent results. They had a lot of fun when they tried to simulate the experience of Michelangelo when he painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, by taping paper to the bottoms of their desks and lying on their backs draw- ing pictures. Their finished work might slot have been as good as Michelangelo's but they en- joyed it very much. Like all the other grades, the Grade 5's enjoyed a holiday, caused by a storm. They finally finished their study of road maps and they are starting a new unit. In math their short division is getting longer, and they,'re working with money and -averages. Grade 7 is finishing their novels, starting speeches and a new unit in Science. On Tuesday they changed from shop to family studies and vice- versa. They have also started making plans. for the Science Fair. Grade 8 students are quickly finishing up speeches, getting ready for the Science Fair looming up in front of them, and they survived another math test, getting ter- rific marks (most of them)^. All in all it's been a busy week, but as the year will draw to an . end, there will be harder ones.
