Christmas is for children, some would say.
And perhaps,, it is true *hat chlldron are most
captivated by the twinkling lights„ theprooiise

the stories of the season, Yet, inside all of us
there seems to hide a child who doesn't want
to .grow up, who hopes each year to ex -
perfume anew the wonder and excitement of
Christmas pasta That is . the magic. of
Christmas, the Innocent, wide=eyed
amazement and breathless anticipation that
makes the season like no other. All of us
treasure the magic of the Christmas season,.
the family traditions, the music, the memories.
Joy is right 'at the heart of what Christmas
means. Try as we might we have difficulty
getting a handle on the meaning of that word
today. We , understand fun. We have no
problem with happy, But joy? What's that?
Saito say- joy is hard -to define in our world

True joy, the kind Christmas Is supposed to
be about, Is a much deeper experience than
fun, and rejoicing has little to- do wlth par-

. A Great Christmas
I was laying in the field watching
the snow fall on my nose. 'It was
the day before Christmas Eve and
my brothers and sister and I were
snowmobiling. •Luke was driving
one and Lisa was riding with him,
and Herman was driving the other
one and I was supposed to be on
with him. But he took a sharp turn
and I fell off and my legs twisted
under me. And then everything
went black.
When I woke up I found myself
in the Wingham Hospital with
doctors and nurses all around my
bed.
I came out of the hospital two
nights later and we opened our
presents and read the Christmas
story. I was still in _a bad mood
until I went to bed that night and
said my prayers. I remembered. that
Jesus still loved me just the way I
was. He always loved me.

Christ is Born
Christ is born on this day
In a manger he did lay
While the shepherds see the star
They will have to walk so far
They will have to walk so far.

The Christmas *tory reveals the pth of
Marys - and our own joy. Mary, end Joseph
were homeless .end no doubt hungry as they
searched for a room In that Bethlehem night..
Mary clothes her baby as the poor dikl. in
swaddling clothes and placed him In a feed-
trough
ewtrough for animals. Yet her joy was deeper
than those, difficult circumstances.
Now 1900 hundred year later, the great
good news of Christmas is that we can look
forward to a joy that " depends no* on the
quality ofour„immediate surroundings or our
material wealth, but on God's graciousness
alone.
This is the joy of Christmas and God's gift
to each of us. May we open our hearts -and
our homes this Christmas to receive this gift
of great joy. May the star of Bethlehem which
shone brightly over the first crib stand guard
over our hearts and homes, filling them and
allthe earth with. light and peace.
May your .Christmas be blessed with true
joy.

My Christmas Story
Christmas is a joyous -time for
everyone and for some it means
more than others. For some it
means getting tonnes of presents
and for others it means having
stockings full of candies. In our
house, Christmas is decorating the
house, putting up the tree, and
getting some presents, but, if it
wasn't for the true meaning of
Christmas we wouldn't get any-
thing. On Dec. 25, 1991 years ago
Jesus was born ,and that is why we
celebrate Christmas. On Christmas
we go to church, come home, and
open our gifts because Jesus got
gifts when he was born. Also
Christmas can mean going to see
relatives. Every year we go to see
our grandparents and have a huge
Christmas 1 dinner. We also get
presents from them and nobody gets
left out. Through all these traditions
and excitement we still remember
Jesus, the true meaning of Christ-
mas.

A Christmas Secret!
One day my Grandmas and I
decided to sit downand talk about
Christmas when she was a little
girl. She said, "It wasn't a bit like
today. I said, "Well Grandma let's
pretend that it's 50 years ago and
you can tell me a little about
Christmas," When she started to tell
7
me I began to -day -dream.
I was dreaming , that J was my
Grandma 50 years ago. It was
Chfistmas time. My Grandma's
brother. Bill and I were gathered
around. the Christmas- tree. But
something was missing. I said, "Bill
where are all our presents gone and
where are mom and dad?" He said,
"Well, they were here just a minute
ago." We finally found our presents
and our Parents, and I was glad.
Thisis what I got, a doll, shoes, a
dress and a new petticoat. This is
what Bill got, wooden puppet, new
suit and pants and we each got a
stocking full of . candy.
When Christmas was all over I
jumped back to 1991 and woke up.
I found my Grandma day dreaming
too. When she woke up I said, "Did
you have fun day dreaming
Grandma?" She said she was
dreaming that it was 50 years ago
too. I', said, "What .a coincidence!
On Christmas morning when I was
opening my presents I winked at
Grandma and she winked back.
Nobody will know the secret that
Grandma and I share. That's why it
up to you to tell.
