NOTICE is hereby give that I have complied with Sections 24 a 25 of the
Municipal Elections, Act, and that I have posted 11,4p at my office of the l'Au sic pal
Building in LHolyrood on the 3rd day of September, 1091 the lW Of all persons
entitled t¢ be electors in the municipality at municipal elections, and that such list

Getting ready for school is all exciting time for. most students. New clothes, it neew shoes and new ba:eat
Delores Cross, :of Lucknow Cut and Curl takes the scissors to Jessica Maines hair to getter .in shape for
the first day back, while big sister, Sarah keeps a close eye on the procedure to make sure it is done just
the way mom wants it. Jessica entered grade one and Sarah grade four at Lucknow Central Public School

Fifty-four- 4-H members attend field day
The Ripley -Huron : Beef • Club
hosted its annual Beef Calf Field
day on_ Sunday Aug. 18. Don and
Cathy Farrell hosted the annual
event at their farm.
Fifty-four 4*H members with
their calves and another- 10
members without their calves, took
advantage of a "Hands on"
information packed day. Weighing
in started the day off as 4-I
members were anxious to learn if
their calves were putting on the
much needed pounds for,
achievement day and sale day.
Wash racks and dipping crates were
ready for the calves. Dave Hasen
of Gold liar farms and an expert in
showmanshipinstructed the
members on clipping their calves
for presentation.
Rosanne McConnell,a guiness
winner at the Royal did most of the
clipping and made the job look
Kim Higgs (Rintoul) also a
guiness winner ..showed the
members how ' to properly wash
their calves, rinse them, and brush.
the hair in the proper direction; an
art in itself.
Lee Rintoul (the hoofer) was also
onhand to trim the hooves of the
calves and show the members the
improvement on the calves' legs.
All the parents enjoyed these
demonstrations' and everyone was
soon put to work what they had just
learned. .
A pot luck barbecue brought a
break for everyone as the mothers
cooked up hundred of hot dogs .ant
hamburgers. '
Presentations were made to the
guests, and free draws were held.
Perrin Lowry from the Ripley
Agriculture Society welcomed the
members and congratulated them on
theircalves and all their hard work.
Gord Fair of the Beef Way spoke
to the 4-H members and : their
parents- on thebeef that the
customer wants, the grading system
and how to attain :this: through the
right feeding program. He also
spoke.onthe blue tag system.
Then it wasback to work,
washing, ci l g, trimming. Dave
Hasen took the members and their
calves, in groups of six, and
instructed them with individual
attention on how to set their calf up
and press ent their calf in the show -
ring.
Mandy Farrell showed the
members how to finish their calf for
showing by "balling the tail". This,
was Mandy's senior projects and
involved preparation; balling the
tail, protection, and ungluing and
taking the tail down. -90n-fair'
also went around to .individual.
members with constructive
information on finishing.. their calf.
All the members went home with
better looking calves and ' lots of
information.
Manx thanks ,gigs to all the
parents for their ' help with the
calves, to the mothers for such a
great lunch and to all the guests. It
was a successful. day ,because of
your efforts. A special' thanks to
the sponsors who donated prizes for
• the free draws. Troy Snobelen did
a great lob .at organizing the prizes.

Workshops offered on soil. conservation.

fragile lands, or to plant buffer
strips along watercourses. There
will be Information Workshops on
this program on Monday, Septem-
ber 9 at Tara in the Library and
Thursday, September 12 in the
Walkerton OMAF Boardroom. Both
meetings will, start at 8:00 p.m.

moving to Ridgetown on August
27. The report is broadcasted by
C.K.N.X. and C.F.O.S. in this area
and available 24 hours a day by
waling (519) 436=6397.
Those with. "touch tone" service
may enter the code of the report
they wish to aeras just after the
introduction message (sem codes
below). Additional . may be
accessed by pressing tlx *butte
followed by the entry codeof the
desired report.
Those without "touch tone" ser-
vice can access the desired report
by saying "yes" when the report, is
offered by the voice menu.

Income Stabilization Account"
program is an individual savings
account with the farmer and gov-
ernments contributing equal
amounts. Contribute are made in
good yeArs and witli<: rawals in poor

An individual may contribute up
to 2% of net sales of oats, barley,
Canada flax, mixed grain, buck-
wheat,
uckwheat, peas, corn and soybeans plus
the Ontario government and federal
government will each contribute
1%.
Your money draws interest at 3%
over prime on your portion.
Withdrawals from the account are
triggered by low net income.
