Although the industry is only Mar-

Now that the Bruce Board of
Education has approved a policy on
use of alcohol, tobacco and other
drugs for its students, it's looking at
a similar policy for staff.
The Board's policy on student use
of drugs includes prevention
through education, help for abusers
through existing community agen-
cies: and discipline, including
suspensions and *ming from field
trips or athletic events.
Trustees were told principals can
use diZbretiOn in imposing 3 -5 -day
suspensions, so they don't become

Vice chairman Gord Thompson
said -he has concerns about forcing
students off school property to have
a smoke when the Same_ policy
doesn't apply to staff. But he wa,s
told that double standard could be
eliminated soon, as a committee has
