Olga Traher (519) 679-1810, --7bc Five Star Quilter Guild meet in Teeswater The Five Star Quilters Guild held their meeting in Teeswater en February 27, at the town hall. Sharon Stein presided. Betty Fieten presented the treasurer's report and new and old business was discussed. A bus trip to the Quilt Show in Halton County, April 19 is planned. Mrs. Stein demonstrated Designed Borders. Borders can be very complicated but beatiliful when done. The March meeting will be held in Lucknow. Doris Bushell will demonstrate celtic applique. Mem- bers are to bring a 161/2" square any colour, with a contrasting colour or print material hi, bias strips 1 1/8" side folded in three. Betty Armstrong, Whitechurch, won the quilt lottery hearts pieced or appliqued. The lottery for March quilt block is 161/2" off white, with butterflies pieced or appliqued. Our Health Nine, Josee„ came into our room to talk to us about good snacks. We will be watching to see if March comes in like a lion or a lamb, Mrs. Young, Grade K2 We have been busy making a big book- about "Animals in Winter" to share with our families. Amanda Brindley had a birtl-iday in Febru- ary! We are making an alphabet book and we like drawing pictures of things that begin with each letter. Mrs. Pickell, Grade 1 Grade One's have been busy reading books to make their book- worms grow. We are busy talking about pets. We did special art. - puffed wheat pets and had a won- derful sticky time! Mrs. 'taker, Grade 1/2 Our class is studying bears. We are learning many interesting facts •about the real bears that live in our com)/ and around the world. We hare a school question survey about the panda and koala. Do you think they are bears? Our math groups are learning about place value. Grade ones are grouping tens and the grade twos are doing hundreds. Everyone is enjoying experiment- ing with the many different kinds of magnets. K. Bowers, Grade 2 Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs and more Dinosaurs. They have-Axen stomp- ing and tromping all over the Grade 2 classroom. We have met Stegosaurus, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Brachiosaurus. We have also been colouring dinosaur eggs and digging fossils. It has been fun! Mr. Lobb, Grade 3 We have made contrasting pattern and faces, love bugs at Valentines, stained glass patterns with tissue paper and other things outside the class at our Valentines, Activity Day. We have done lots of work with division, and cross number puzzles and some math review... Mrs. Lobb was reading us Wind in the Willows and we started con- necting our written letters. In our Phys. Ed. we have played Survival, had an aerobics workout and had a Snow Activity day. Our librat-Y had a boot sak which we all enjoyed and where we bought lots of boots. We had a very busy month. Miss Wise$ Grade 3 The chikken of room 5 have been studying about children in Peru. We met Pabkr Panetta. Ruben and the Salaams family. Mrs. Matthews/Mrs. Kane Grade 4 grade four has just started a reading unit about cats, We have been learning music notes in the treble clef in preparation for playing the reorders. Grade 4/5 Grade 4/5 is studying the Pacific Coast Indians, concentrating on the Kwakiutl tribe. Students have cre- ated names for their mythical crea- tures and have written legends and designed totem, poles. On Feb. 4 we -had a box social. The girls did a splendid job. The boys learned a lot and returned the favour on Feb. 21. Mrs. Worsell; Grade 5/6 Mrs. Worsell's Grade 5/6 class has survived the "Pre -Report Card" Test season. Congratulations to the iriany pupils who did wally well on Social Studies, Literature, Spelling and Math tests.
