We are working on Bob !Wunsch
centres. We have reached sur goal
and w have 2,828 books read! In
two weeks it will be March break.
Our superstar theme is "solve prob-
lems by talking." Here are the
people from our class who said
their speeches in the gym; Ellen
Husk, Andrew Pickard, Russ Mann
and Jessica Hara.
Grade 3/4,
Mrs. Hiller/Mrs. Inwood
Our representatives i± the gym for
speeches were Carrie Moffat, Alicia
Thacker. and Charlie Lyons.They
did a nice job and we enjoyed
hearing, all the other speeches too.
In Language Arts we have started a
new unit called Friendship and
Caring. Many people have read
some hooks on Friendship already.
At the end of our Bear Unit we
counted up the Bear Books we have
read. Jaime Pritchard read sixty-two
Bear Books!
In Environmental Studies we
continue to learn about Canada.
Many of the students have relatives
or friends in many parts of Canada.
Grade 1,
Nancy Maclntyre/Ruth Bell
- Grade One's are dramatizing and
reading Fairy Tales this month.
Mrs. Bell had a "dragon" in her
desk. It gave us a magic dream
penny that we put under our pillows
at night. Many of us wrote good
dream to share. We enjoyed having
our parents to our Valentine party.
Thank you for the letters you wrote
back to your children. Katherine
and Matthew are "Special Me's" for
these two weeks. Most of us have a
"published" book now and are very
proud of them.
Grade 4, Mrs. Ellis

L.C.P.S. During a Beach Boys song
Becky Visser won a beachball.• In
Environmental Studies, we are
starting a new unit on weights and
balances. We made our own harps,
and they sounded fabulous.
Nick Mann, Rachael Bushell, and
Jayme Sutherland were chosen from
our class to go to the gym for pub-
lic •*peaking. Rachael wili represent
the junior division at the Legion.

on some V.I.P.'s nr Canada. Grade
5 are having fun making discoveries
with magnets.
We had two informative videos

Shoplifting" and the other was on
"Drugs". There were iinportant
messages to be learned from both
films.

Guing Hoi Fah Choy! Mrs.
M.L.'s Gr. 1/2's have been talking
about China -- the people, language,
money, the Great Wall, maps, and
Festivals, We made wonderful
dragons, the symbol of good luck
for Chinese New Years, then we
have a parade with them. It Was
fun.
We have been reading lots of
fairy tales. We have been practising
the song of the Three Bears. We
me GREAT at W We are going t
show other classes.

With reports cards gong home on
March 5, the students of Grade 7
and 8 tarle been busy vviidng tests
and completing work for this term.

ing finals for our school on Thurs-
day, February 14. Congratulations

Mayer who will represent our
school at the Legion contest.
Mr. MeKam, Grade 8
The grade 8's havebegun to learn
about how our nation expanded
during the late 1800's. It was a
time of trial and triumph. They
were also fortunate this week to
hear from Mr. David Adair of the
John Hoard Society. Mr. Adair
addressed the class about young
people and their reladonship with
matters of law. A most interesting
time. Thanks Mr. Adair.
Mrs. Lash, Kindergarten
Kindergarten is very happy this
month to get the loan of some new
toys for a few months. We have a
tractor And wagon, a rocking boat,
a parachute and a wooden train set.
We have really enjoyed playtime
with the addition of these toys. We
have enjoyed participating in Spirit
days at school. This past week was
beach day. We enjoyed dreaming of
summer and drawing pictures of our
dream at the beach.
The last two weeks at L.C.P.S.
have been exciting, (snowy) and
active. Friday, Feb. 8 sawthe halls
of our school filled with hats of
every description. On Friday,leb-
ruary 22, L.C.P.S. anticipated sum-
mer with a shorts and T-shirt 'day.
It was encouraging to think of the
sou as everyone spoited their
brightly coloured beab wear,

Waterloo were home on the
weekend to be with theh families.

people of South Kinloss and Luck -
now Presbyterian Churches enjoyed
a tobogganing party and had supper
with their leaders Fred and Mar-
garet deBoer. On Saturday these
yotmg people will finish the
decorating on their adopted room at
